HISTORY

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) is a government-

owned lignite mining and power generating company in India.NLC operates the largest open-pit lignite mines in India, presently

mining 24 MT of lignite and has an installed capacity of2490 MW of electricity per year. It also supplies a large quantity of

sweet water to Chennai from the artesian aquifers in the lignitemines. On 11-Apr-2011, it joined the elite group ofNavratna Companies.[ In 1956 NLC was formed as a Corporatebody.

NEW POWER PLANT UNDER PROCESSINGNEYVELI LIGNITE CORPORATION LIMITEDIN INDIA

NLC plans to start units in Gujarat, Orissa , Rajasthan & UP

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd (NLC) will set up mining-cum-power projects in

Gujarat and Rajasthan with an investment of Rs 5,500 crore, and Rs 6,300 crorerespectively.

As part of its policy to diversify into coal for power generation, NLC will set up

2,000 mw coal-fired power plant in Orissa. NLC is joining hands with Hindalco and

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) for executing mining projects.

With a joint venture agreement with Uttar Pradesh Rajya VidyutUtpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) for setting up a coal basedpower plant with a capacity of 2000 MW at Ghatampur in Kanpur ,

Uttar Pradesh with an equity participation of 51% by NLC and 49 byUPRVUNL.

The main core activity of NLC is Lignite Excavation and power generation usinglignite excavated. NLC is having three lignite mines named as Mine I, Mine II

and Mine IA. Also raw lignite is being sold to small scale industries to use it as fuelin their production activities.

NLC is generating power in its Thermal Power Station I, Thermal Power Station -II

PAY SCALE AND SALARY

Selected candidates will be inducted as Graduate Executive Trainee inE-1 Grade in the pay scale of `16400-3%-40500 and they will be ontraining for a period of minimum one year (extendable).On completionof training, they will be appointed in E-2 Grade in the pay scale of

`20600-3%-46500

During the training period the GETs will be paid Basic Pay of `16400/-,Dearness Allowance (presently 52.4 % of basic pay) and CommonAllowance (40% of basic pay) per month. In addition to the above,

they will be paid Performance Related Pay annually and entitled forsuperannuation benefit (30% of basic pay + Dearness Allowance), freeMedical treatment for self and dependents; House Building Advance;Group Insurance; etc. as per rules.
