Just outside White Deer there is a powerful force in the world-wide composting industry.—SCARAB Manufacturing. Much like its namesake, SCARAB is small but makes a huge impact in global soil quality by cus-tom designing compost-ing machines for custom-ers from Pampa and Clarendon to Russia, China, Australia, Ireland

and Egypt.

2012 marks the 40th year of a business that was born from necessity. Local feedlots needed a viable solution for ma-nure and bedding waste. Since that time, owner Marvin Urbanczyk has received both state and national awards recogniz-ing his contribution to

the composting industry.

From the beginning, SCARAB has focused on the high quality of their machines. Marvin grew up on a farm and under-stands how inefficient or broken-down machinery can cripple an operation. At 88, Marvin is still the chief designer and head

perfectionist.

Many of you know

Britt Reid from his ser-vice as a member of the Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Britt is the Plant Manger for SCARAB and would be glad to visit with you about the composting needs in your communi-

ty. (806-883-7621)

Composting is a way to divert many materials like grass clippings, wood chips, paper, food and manure waste and turn it into gold! Instead of land-filling this waste stream you can produce a viable product for your com-

munity.

SUBJECT: CTRA Monthly Price Sheet –

Below is the CTRA Price Sheet for February, 2012. Most of the prices are up for the month. OCC is at $100/ton and that may be the best we can hope for the Spring. If you have been holding on to your cardboard bales waiting for the price to go up, I say it is time to SELL! The mills will open again on the first of the month so call me ASAP to request your trucks. Keep up the great work and remember every pound you recycle you save landfill and transporting costs too! Thanks for all you do for the Panhandle! -Elizabeth
