A Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Socorro Independent School District willbe held December 13, 2005, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Americas High School, BandRoom, 12101 Pellicano, El Paso, Texas 79936.

The subjects to be discussed or considered or upon which any formal action may be takenare as listed below. Items do not have to be taken in the order shown on this meetingnotice.

All items on the consent agenda shall be acted upon by one vote without separatediscussion, unless a Board member requests that an item be withdrawn for individualconsideration. Any Board member can request an item to be withdrawn for individualconsideration.

Best of Show for Mixed Media at the Kermezaar Art Show.8th graders Denise Lopez, Armando Mancinas, IrasemaRamirez and Esmeralda Terrazas received “HonorableMention” awards. Their teacher is Marisela Quintana.

C. Jane A. Hambric School 5th grader Stephanie Flores won the3rd-5th grade division of the district’s annual Winter HolidayArt Contest.

D. Jane A. Hambric School 8th grader Deseree Pina won themiddle school division of the district’s annual Winter HolidayArt Contest. She also took the middle school division firstplace award at the El Paso Community College ArtCompetition for her piece “Mother Nature’s Creatures.” Theirart teacher is Joan Jameson.

E. Lujan-Chavez Elementary kindergartner Sandra Palma wonthe K-2nd division of the district’s annual Winter Holiday ArtContest. Her teacher is Lori Moreno.

F. Col. John O. Ensor Middle 5th grader Dominique Favela wonfirst place in her division at the El Paso Community CollegeArt Competition. Her art teacher is Stephanie Romero.

G. At the El Paso County Fair Sept. 24, Socorro Middle 8thgrader Guy Deragisch won first place in the culinary arts forhis peanut butter fudge pound cake which auctioned off for$60. He also won second place for his “Beet of a DifferentDrum” layer cake.

H. Socorro Middle teacher Jan Deragisch won two first placeadult division awards for two cakes made with Mountain Dewand Dr. Pepper.

I. Socorro Middle 6th grader Ivan Juarez won first place at theKermezaar Art Show. His lino-block print called “CreepyLittle Creatures” was on display at the El Paso Civic Center onOct. 29-30. 6th grader Yaritza Marentes and 8th grader JaimeOchoa took “Outstanding Awards” for their stain glass. 8thgraders James Barraza, Carina Castillo and Cathy Diaz andVanessa Lugo received “Honorable Mention” awards forprintmaking. Socorro Middle 8th grader Mariela Iglesias wonHonorable Mention at the El Paso Community College ArtShow. Her art work was purchased by college president Dr.Rhodes. Their teacher is Jan Deragisch.

J. The following William D. Slider Middle teachers helped earnthe school 2005 Gold Performance Ratings in Writing andComparable Reading. Reading teachers Julie Reyes, PaulaMonroe, Michelle Romero, Christina Lorusso, AnthonyArchuletta, Mary Martinez and Betsy Whetstone. Englishteachers Ramona Smith, Manny Vega, Melissa Nunn, TommieKimsey, Margaret Sierra, Bretta Louise Curlee and MacArthurJones.

K. The Americas High School boys swim team finished third atthe Cathedral/Loretto Invitational, the first swimming trophyever for the school. Four students medaled in the invitational:Fernando Martinez in the 200 Medley Relay, 100 Freestyle &200 Free Relay; Humberto Olivas in the 200 medley relay and200 free relay; Ruben Pinedo in the 200 medley relay, 100butterfly and 200 free relay; and Edgar Blanco in the 200medley relay and 200 free relay. Other members of the teamare: Robert Ordonez, Hector Diaz, Alex Hecht, OscarGonzalez, Alex Gamez, Luis Loera, Antonio Vidana, LuisRamirez, Juan Martinez, Mario Bollain, Eduardo Reyes,Eduardo Garcia, Sergio Pinedo and Isaiah Ingram. Their coachis Raquel Garcia.

L. Six officers of the Americas High School National HonorSociety competed in Young Scholars Bowl in WashingtonD.C. from Nov. 11-13. They were the only representatives forall of West Texas and made it to the semi-finals. Thecompetition was broadcast on Channel One. The officers areJennifer Rea, Fredrick Rojas, Andrew Benitez, MichaelPelech, Samantha Carreon and Gabriel Mendoza. Theirsponsor is Denise Robles.

M. Americas High School junior Gabriel Mendoza won the highschool division of the district’s annual Winter Holiday ArtContest. His teacher is Karmela Falcon-Comstock.

N. The following El Dorado High School Varsity Cheerleaderswere chosen for the El Paso Varsity All-City CheerleadingSquad. They are: Perla Vargas, Mandy Mendoza, MiryamTerrazas and Crystal Manqueros. Their coach is ClaudiaOrnelas.

O. Christina Munoz of Montwood High won the individualchampionship of the Far West Cross-Country Championshipsfor the second time in a row. She also finished second at theRegion 1 championships Nov. 5 and ran at the statechampionships for the 4th year in a row. Her coach is DeanCardon.

P. The Socorro High cross country Boys team went undefeated indistrict, finished third in the regional competition and 12th inthe state tournament. Five of the runners were named to theAll-City team. The team includes Mark Fuentes, JesusRodriguez, Gama Mendez, Ramon Acosta, Rodney Snyder,Rodrigo Molina, & Pedro Candelaria. They are coached byJeff Barros.

Q. The Socorro High School varsity soccer team received theirBi-District championship trophy in November. Jesus Guevarawas named best forward in the city and Edgar Retana wasnamed best goalkeeper in the city. The rest of thechampionship team included Jose Bustamante, Edgar Guevara,Esteban Loya, Alberto Lopez, Moises Martinez, EliazarPonce, Mario Rubio, Luis Villanueva, Fernando Martinez,Richard Bernal, Javier Reyes, Bernabe Jara, Ramon Tarango,Gabriel Tarango, Nainn Morga, Angel Valencia, Joe Ramosand Luis Zamudio. Their coaches are Alex Delgado & ErnieEspinoza.

R. The Socorro High School Naval JROTC marched in theannual Thanksgiving Sun Bowl Parade. For the thirdconsecutive year and fourth of the last 5 years, the unit wasjudged as the best JROTC marching unit. The unit will receivea trophy at the Sun Bowl Parade Banquet in January and willhave the honor of being the first unit in the parade line up nextyear. Accepting the award for the unit are Color GuardCommander Cadet Commander Roy Saldana, Armed DrillTeam Commander Cadet Ensign Nelson Gallegos andUnarmed Drill Team Commander Cadet LieutenantCommander Susana Breceda. Their naval instructor isLieutenant Commander Gerald C. Mangrum.

S. The Montwood High Girls and Socorro High Boys won theteam titles of the Far West Cross-Country Championships.SISD won four of the six team titles. The Montwood Girlsteam is coached by Dean Cardon and the Socorro High Boysteam is coached by Jeff Barros.

4. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS 11Presenter: Minerva BaumannA. Representative Norma Chavez will present a resolution to the

Communications Department for receiving numerous awardsat the Texas School Public Relations Association convention.

B. The Executive Director of the Texas Association of SecondarySchool Principals, Archie McAffee, will present an award toDr. Armando Aguirre for the Middle School Principal of theYear at the state level.

C. Mr. Bruce Truesdale, President of the SISD Foundation Boardof Directors, will give special recognition Geronimo Garciafrom Geronimo Design for the donation of his services in thedesign of the logo for the SISD Foundation for Excellence inEducation.

D. Sue Thompson, District Librarian, will recognize HD HilleyLibrary Media Specialist, Neysa Hardin, for her attainment ofa national board certification.

E. Albert Trujillo, Clarice Jones, Mary Ross, Miyesser Collins,Feliz Neri and Laura Hinojo will be honored for their 30+years of service to Socorro ISD.

F. A total of 24 Socorro ISD schools received 2005 GoldPerformance Ratings from the Texas Education Agency due tothe high percentage of students reaching CommendedPerformance levels on the TAKS. In addition, the district as awhole received the ratings in both Advance Course/DualEnrollment and Recommended High School Program.

Sanchezreceived the rating for Attendance and Comparable Math. William D. Slider received therating for Reading, Writing and Comparable Reading. Capt. Walter E. Clarke receivedthe rating for Attendance and Comparable Math. Montwood Middle received the ratingfor Attendance and Writing. And Sun Ridge received the rating for Attendance, SocialStudies and Comparable Reading.

Fifteen elementary schools received Gold Performance Ratings. H.D. Hilley received therating for Writing. O-Shea Keleher received the rating for Comparable Reading andComparable Math. Vista Del Sol received the rating for Attendance, Reading, Math,Writing and Science. Hueco received the rating for Science and Comparable Reading.Myrtle Cooper received the rating for Attendance, Reading and Comparable Reading.Escontrias Elementary received the rating for Attendance. Mary Benham will present the attached property tax collection analysis for the month of October2005. The collections in October for the current year total $606,408.74 with the year to datetotaling $606,408.74. The prior year taxes collected in the month were $158,512.64 and the yearto date prior year was $393,132.77. The tax collection in October was at 1.47 percent and the taxcollection at the same time last year was 1.72 percent.

CALL TO ORDERThe meeting was called to order 6:04 pm by President Guillermo Gandara. All members were presentexcept Karen Blaine. A quorum was present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCEThe Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jan Deragisch. A moment of silence was observed for RamonRendon and Dolores Serna-Batres who both recently passed away.

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONSSuperintendent, Robert Durón, presented Susan Hill with the Superintendent’s Coin of Excellence andcommended Ms. Hill for her outstanding service to the District.

Carmen Gutierrez Imai was recognized for being the Rising Star Teacher of the Year for Region 19 Giftedand Talented.

Vicki Miller, the President of the Club de España, made a special presentation commemorating the 400th

celebration of the publishing of Don Quijote de la Mancha.

The Slider Middle School Starlets were recognized for their participation in the city cheerleadingcompetition and took first place in the eight grade division and third in the seventh grade division. This istheir seventh straight year to take this title.

OPEN FORUMLizett Shaw, representing the English Department from El Dorado High School, expressed concernsregarding benchmark testing. The administration was asked to look into Ms. Shaw’s concerns.

Jan Deragisch reported that it is American Education Week. Ms. Deragisch asked the Board to considerlowering the insurance premiums paid by District employees.

Glenda Hawthorne, President of SEA, updated the Board regarding Pontiac vs. Spellings. She alsoreported that in the last two weeks, twelve teams of people from NEA, and TSTA made visits to threeschool districts in EP. They were able to gather over 6,000 signatures – to be forwarded to a congressionaldelegation. Ms. Hawthorne thanked the Board for their support in this initiative.

Ron Thompson addressed the building program of the district and stated his belief that the District doesn’tneed a new design for every new school the district builds.

CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION REPORTDr. Debra Livingston, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, provided the Board with a reportregarding benchmark assessments.

FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION REPORTBruce Truesdale, President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Excellence in Education,provided the Board with an update on the activities of the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

CONSENT AGENDAA motion was made by Barbara Perez-Peña and seconded by Charles Garcia to approve the ConsentAgenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

Items approved under the Consent Agenda are: Minutes of the October 18 and 25, 2005 Board of Trusteesmeetings, budget amendments, the employment of personnel, the payment of bills, the submission ofgrants and awarding of the following bids: Supplemental Education Services, Americas High School andMontwood Middle School parking lot improvements, Audio visual equipment, Pest control services, Fireextinguishers inspections and maintenance, and Office and teaching supplies.

EL PASO CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORSCraig Patton asked for the Board’s endorsement for himself and Vicente Ordoñez to be reappointed to theEl Paso Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

A motion was made by Charles Garcia and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to recommend theappointment of Mr. Patton and Mr. Ordoñez to the El Paso Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.The motion carried unanimously.

ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION FROM FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE INEDUCATION BOARD OF DIRECTORSVicki Icard, Director of Special Projects, presented a request to accept the resignation of Mr. Jake Brisbenfrom the Foundation for Excellence Board of Directors.

A motion was made by Craig Patton and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to accept the resignation aspresented. The motion carried unanimously.

NOMINATION TO FILL VACANCY ON THE FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE INEDUCATION BO0ARD OF DIRECTORSVicki Icard presented a nomination to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Jake Brisben on the Foundation forExcellence in Education Board of Directors with Mr. George Carrillo.

A motion was made by Raymundo Rodriguez and seconded by Craig Patton to approve the nomination ofGeorge Carrillo as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

NEW POSITION – GRANT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALISTBarry Edwards, Director of Personnel Services, presented a request to approve a new position, GrantProfessional Development Specialist.

A motion was made by Charles Garcia and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to approve the new positionas presented. The motion carried with Charles Garcia, Barbara Perez-Peña, Brenda Castañeda, RaymundoRodriguez and Craig Patton voting aye and Guillermo Gandara voting no.

ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS RECEIVED BY THE DISTRICTMary Benham presented a request for the acceptance of donations received by the District during the 2004-2005 fiscal year. Donations totaled $75,331.

A motion was made by Barbara Perez-Peña and seconded by Raymundo Rodriguez to accept the donationsas presented. The motion carried unanimously.

REQUESTS FOR USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIESArmando Bustamante, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, presented a request forapproval for use of school facilities from the City of El Paso and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Mr. Bustamantereported that the request from the Mission Trail Association was withdrawn from the agenda.

A motion was made by Raymundo Rodriguez and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to approve the requestsfor use of school facilities as presented. The motion carried unanimously.Mission trail withdrawn from agenda

TASB LOCALIZED POLICY UPDATE 76, EI (LOCAL) AND FMG (LOCAL)Vicki Icard presented a request for approval of TASB Localized Policy Update 76, The administrationrecommended approval of all of the following local policy revisions: CAA (Local), FD (Local), FDB(Local), FDD (Local), EI (Local), and FMG (Local).

A motion was made by Brenda Castañeda and seconded by Raymundo Rodriguez to approve the policyrevisions as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

DISTRICT EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – CSP NO. 199-0915-0660Iris Ornelas, Director of Employee Benefits, recommended awarding of CSP No. 199-0915-0660 toComPsych. Gary Larcenaire, representing Sun City Behavioral Health Care signed up to speak to thisagenda item should there be any questions.

After the Administration’s recommendation and discussion, no motion was made to approve awarding thebid. No action was taken by the Board.

ARCHITECT CONTRACTSTom Eyeington presented recommendations for approval of the following Architect Contracts: SMS/IDEAArchitects for new Education Center, Mijares-Mora Architects for New High School, Carl DanielsArchitects for additions to Hueco School, and Wright and Dalbin Architects for Alternative School/Schoolof Choice.

A motion was made by Raymundo Rodriguez and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to approve theArchitect Contracts as presented. The motion carried unanimously (Charles Garcia was not present for thevote).

A motion was made by Raymundo Rodriguez and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to approve theconstruction contracts as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

RIGHT OF WAYTom Eyeington presented a request for granting Right-of-Way (ROW) to the County of El Paso forEastlake Drive and Rojas Drive.

A motion was made by Raymundo Rodriguez and seconded by Barbara Perez-Peña to approve the ROWas presented. The motion carried unanimously.

GUARANTEED MAXIMUM PRICETom Eyeington presented a request for approval of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $3,679,500from FT James Construction for the initial phase or base bid for the Montwood High School Addition andHVAC Upgrades.

A motion was made by Craig Patton and seconded by Charles Garcia to approve the GMP as presented.The motion carried unanimously.

EXECUTIVE SESSIONThe meeting was closed at 8:15 pm for consultation with the school district’s attorney regarding personneland a possible claim against a vendor, to hear a recommendation for Director of Personnel Services, and todiscus real estate.

REAL ESTATE CONTRACT TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 12380 PINE SPRINGSLarry Baskind reported that no action was necessary regarding this agenda item. No action was taken bythe Board.

JOB ORDER CONTRACT (ADDENDUM AGENDA ITEM)Tom Eyeington presented a request for the issuance of a Job Order Contract to Basic Industries through theTexas Cooperative Purchasing Network for installation of a water line to Drugan School.

A motion was made by Barbara Perez-Peña and seconded by Raymundo Rodriguez to approve the JobOrder Contract as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

RECOMMENDATION FOR DIRECTOR OF PERSONNEL SERVICESDr. Duron recommended Dr. Priscilla Terrazas for the position of Director of Personnel Services. Amotion was made by Craig Patton and seconded by Brenda Castañeda to approve the recommendation aspresented. The motion carried unanimously.

REIMBURSEMENT OF FUNDS PAID ON BEHALF OF STAFF MEMBERS TO PLANCOMPLIANCE GROUP FOR 403(b) CONTRIBUTIONSMary Benham, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, reported that some of the annuities withheldfrom some employee’s checks and forwarded on to Plan Compliance have not been sent to the employee’sannuity companies. Mrs. Benham stated the administration’s recommendation for the District to pay theannuity companies and continue to work to collect the money that is due from Plan Compliance.

Larry Baskind, School District Attorney, reported that after contacting the Texas Education Agency andspeaking with the District’s auditors, it is appropriate, in this circumstance only, to expend public funds toreimburse employees for their October 2005 annuity payment only.

Craig Patton, Board Secretary, and other Board members commented on a letter the Board received fromcommunity member, Ron Thompson, who raised concerns about having this issue considered at a specialboard meeting that is conducted in the middle of the day.

A motion was made by Craig Patton and seconded by Charles Garcia to postpone the agenda item until thenext regular Board meeting scheduled for December 13, 2005. Discussion took place regarding this item.The motion failed with Craig Patton and Charles Garcia voting aye and Karen Blaine, Guillermo Gandara,Raymundo Rodriguez and Brenda Castañeda voting no.

A motion was made by Craig Patton and seconded by Brenda Castañeda to reimburse staff for funds paidas recommended. The motion carried unanimously.

CONSTRUCTION DELIVERY METHODTom Eyeington, Assistant Superintendent of Operational Services, recommended that construction projectsless than $200,000 that the delivery method would be either; competitive sealed proposals, competitivebidding or Job Order Contracting (solicited separately or through a cooperative agreement alreadyestablished). The method selected would be determined by the administration.

The following grants are submitted for your consideration under the Consent Agenda:

1. El Dorado High School has applied for the Texas High School Redesign and RestructureGrant from TEA. The purpose of the grant is to provide high school campuses ratedAcademically Unacceptable under the Texas accountability rating system with the resourcesto build capacity for implementing innovative, school wide initiatives designed to improvestudent performance on the campus. El Dorado is seeking to make improvements across thespectrum of instruction, to provide for staff development opportunities and to acquire up-to-date technology to assist student learning strategies. This grant will award $300,000 to beused to pay for the required technical assistance provider, on-line tutorials, staff training,substitutes, SMART Boards, and required travel. No matching funds are required.

2. The Department of Special Education has submitted a proposal to receive funds from TEAfor Year Two of the Texas Effectiveness Study Mini-Grant Program. This money willenable the continued collection and analysis of post-school outcome data. Data collected willbe used to improve results for students served under special education and general education.Funding in the amount of $6,960 has been requested and will be applied toward extra-dutypay (personnel to contact former students), and supplies.

3. Campestre Elementary is applying for a grant from Dollar General Community Grants.Activities associated with this request will center on furthering the efforts of the EarlyLiteracy Program that was established through another small grant. The program is a parenttraining program to encourage parents to read to their children newborn to 5 years old. The$3,000 requested will pay for additional books and training materials to teach parents how toencourage their child’s reading habits as well as small incentives to recognize parent effortsin completing the training.

RESOLUTION

R E C I T A L S:

WHEREAS, Socorro Independent School District, through an Interlocal agreement, hasits taxes collected by the City of El Paso; and

WHEREAS, the City of El Paso has contracted with private legal counsel to enforcecollection of delinquent property taxes pursuant to TEX. TAX CODE § 6.30;

WHEREAS, such private legal counsel is entitled to 20% of the delinquent taxes,penalty and interest which are collection subject to the contract; and

WHEREAS, Socorro Independent School District wishes to defray its costs of collectionof delinquent taxes, as authorized by TEX. TAX CODE § 33.07, §33.08 and §33.11;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF

THE SOCORRO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT:

1. That the Recitals set forth hereinabove are correct.

2. That pursuant to Section 33.07 of the Code, an additional penalty on delinquenttaxes for tax years 2005 and subsequent years therefore is hereby approved andimposed in the amount of twenty percent (20%) of the delinquent tax, penalty andinterest if that tax becomes delinquent on or after February 1 of a year but notlater than May 1 of that year and that remains delinquent on July 1 of the year inwhich that tax becomes delinquent.

3. That pursuant to Section 33.08 of the Code, an additional penalty on delinquenttaxes for tax years 2005 and subsequent years thereafter is hereby approved andimposed in the amount of twenty percent (20%) of the delinquent tax, penalty andinterest if that tax becomes delinquent on or after June 1 under Section 26.07(f),26.15(e), 31.03, 31.031, 31.032, or 31.04 of the Code.

4. That pursuant to Section 33.11 of the Code, an additional penalty on delinquenttaxes imposed on tangible personal property for tax years 2005 and subsequentyears thereafter is hereby approved and imposed in the amount of twenty percent(20%) of the delinquent tax, penalty, and interest, if that tax becomes delinquenton or after February 1 of a year, the tax remains delinquent on or after the 60th dayafter the tax becomes delinquent, and the additional penalty is incurred beforeJuly 1 of the year in which said taxes become delinquent.

2005/06 Campus Improvement Plans(Each board member received either a CD or hard copy of the 35 campus plans during the weekof October 10 – 14, 2005 for review)

HistoryIt is a requirement of the state, that each campus develop, review, and revise annually, a campusimprovement plan for the purpose of improving the performance of all students. Due to thisrequirement, the Board approves campus performance objectives and ensures that the campusplans: (1) are mutually supportive to accomplish the identified objectives; and support the stategoals and objectives under Education Code 11.252(a), (b).

RationaleThe campus improvement plan is to guide campus personnel in the improvement of studentperformance for all student populations, including students in special education programs, withrespect to the academic excellence indicators and any other appropriate performance measuresfor special needs populations.

Administrative RecommendationBoard approval is required as campus improvement plans are both a state requirement anddistrict policy

SUBJECT: Design/Build as Delivery Method

Tom Eyeington will present a request for approval of Design/Build as the Delivery Method andto authorize the solicitation for proposals for a new Transportation Facility.

HISTORY:With the pending purchase of the 12460 Rojas (CFI Trucking Facility) service bays would beequired. Currently all District’s vehicles, including buses are serviced at the existingTransportation Facility located at 12300 Pine Springs.

RATIONALE:Design/Build is an approved delivery method for school district to procure constructioncontracts. The Design/Build allows a single entity to be contracted to provide both design andconstruction. The Design/Build team consists of builder, architect and engineer. TheDesign/Build contracts directly with the sub-contractors and is responsible for delivery of theproject. Selection is based on the proposal offering the best value in the District. If approvedDesign/Build delivery method will be used only for this project.

BUDGET:General funds are available for this project.

Tom Eyeington will present a request for approval of Professional Services for Architects andEngineers for the Socorro High School Phase II – HVAC Upgrades.

History:At a Special Board Meeting on September 27th, Board of Trustees, authorization was given toAdministration to solicit qualifications for Professional Services. Proposals were received onDecember 2nd, from seven firms. On December 5th, the Administrative Review met andreviewed the proposals and evaluated each firm. On December 6th, at the ConstructionCommittee, Administration reviewed the evaluations to the Committee as a part of Step # 8 ofthe Procedure and Guidelines for Selection of Professional Services as adopted on March 2nd,2004.

Rationale:The Selection of Professional Services enables Administration to establish the Design Team forthe projects.

Allen Long, Director of Career and Technology, will present a request for approval of a granttitled, “No Kidding Around, Straight Talk for Teen Parents.” The purpose of the program is toeducate young people on the rights, responsibilities, and realities of teen parenting throughinteractive presentations conducted by trained peer educators who are themselves teenageparents. Combining key elements of service-learning and experiential education, the programprovides ongoing support to a group of young fathers and mothers as they conduct compellingpresentations about what they wish they had been told before they had their children.
