SOCIAL MEDIA

Page 2: Social media

My favourite Social Networking site is ...

Facebook!

Why? Easy to use

Pretty much everyone else is on it Easy to keep in touch with people

Can see photos, status updates, use Facebook chat, different applications etc...

DOs and DON’Ts

DO upload and tag pictures after a good night out, or a holiday.

DO type so that other people can understand it! (So nt lyk dis)

DO keep people updated with something interesting. (There’s nothing like a good piece of gossip )

DO join in and post comments, photos, “like” things and keep in touch with your friends!

DOs and DON’Ts

DON’T update your status every 5 minutes – I don’t care what you ate for breakfast or if you are bored!

DON’T keep inviting me to play Farmville or similar games.

DON’T start a long private conversation under a status a lot of other people have “liked”, I don’t want 54 notifications!

DON’T tag your friends in unflattering pictures. DON’T have 15346243 friends on Facebook, when you

don’t have that many in real life.

Lurker, Editor or Creator?

I think I am an "editor” and a little bit of a

“lurker” .

I don’t know too many “creators” but usually I see people who create groups and content as being outgoing and imaginative.

In order to be confident enough to put yourself out there and create something, you’d have to be quite passionate about what you are doing and believe in yourself.

Is privacy dead?

I think it is becoming easier for people to find personal information about someone, but I think that if you didn’t want that then you shouldn’t have joined Facebook or another site like it in the first place!

The whole point of social networking is so that people can stay in contact with you, and know what is going on in your life.

However if you are under 18 then I definitely think that the privacy restrictions should be more stringent.

The last things I did on Facebook...

Joined a group Confirmed I was attending an event (A Level Results party!) Accepted friend requests Tagged a friend in a photo Wrote on my friend’s wall

Twitter...I quite like Twitter, because it looks quite cute and quirky. It is also quick to update and use. However, not enough of my friends are on it!

I like how it feels like a mini-blog, the different trending topics and the fact that you can follow celebrities.

I still think bigger social networking sites like Facebook offer more though, through applications and photo uploads.

MySpace

I used this when I was in high school.

I don’t use this anymore, as most people started going on Facebook instead. I think people outgrew it because it was too much hassle with the different MySpace layouts etc...

Page 10: Social media

I think social networking is a great way to tell people what types of music, films and TV programmes you are interested in.

I sometimes text my friends, or message them on chat if I’m watching something that I think they would like.

A LOT of my friends update their statuses when Top Gear is on!

I think all of my friends have a Facebook account, even if they don’t use it that often.

I don’t think I could ever delete my account on it, because I’d feel out of touch with everyone, and that I’m missing out on the gossip!

Also, without Facebook, how else would I be able to waste my valuable time?
