Safari starts in Delhi, India - Arrive in Delhi by international flight. Delhi – The JW Marriott Hotel – 1 Night

Having been destroyed and rebuilt 11 times, Delhi has a colourful history. A combination of bustling international metropolis, medieval chaos and regal splendour, the city is crammed to bursting point with tombs, temples, ancient monuments and ruins, all of which exist side by side with modern suburbs and glass and chrome skyscrapers. This delectable mix of old and new adds to the city's appeal as a tourist destination. Visitors can sip from this bubbling melting pot of culture, cuisine and dialect as they explore the city.

The enchanting town of Leh is the capital of Ladakh, a region often referred to as ‘Little Tibet’. Located at 11,400 feet, 2.5 days in Leh will allow you to gently acclimatise to the high altitude. Exploring the town’ s winding lanes, visiting the picturesque Thiksey Monastery and a day trip into the countryside towards Taglang La will enable you to experience the region’s rich cultural heritage, dramatic scenery and unique wildlife. In preparation for the journey ahead, you will visit the Snow Leopard Conservancy to learn about conservation efforts for this rare and vulnerable species.

Ulley – Snow Leopard Lodge (homestay with Ladakhi family) – 7 Nights

Situated at about 13,000 feet, Ulley village is a remote hamlet of seven houses in the centre of three interlocking valleys. These valleys support approximately 12 snow leopards. Ulley’s wild and remote location means that you are surrounded by wildlife including the red fox, Tibetan sand fox, Tibetan wolves, ibex, bharal (blue sheep), marmots, Tibetan hares, snow partridge, Himalayan Griffon, and golden eagles to name a few species. A knowledgeable local guide will lead you on foot and by SUV through the valleys in search of wildlife while sharing his insights into local folklore, customs and traditions.

Snow Leopard Lodge You will be staying at the enchanting Snow Leopard Lodge – the homestay consists of four bedrooms, built separately from the main house with a dining room and kitchen all in the same low stone building. Add to this the interest of living with a Ladakhi family and understanding their lifestyle and you have a very special experience in store - especially sharing the large and warm kitchens that are the heart of a Ladkahi home. From the house and its terraced fields, you command a superb view and a good chance to see Ibex and if you are lucky other wildlife including wolves, foxes and perhaps even snow leopard.
