Transfers are available to and from Saruni Samburu & Saruni Rhino and on to other destinations. Additional option to include a 20 minutes’ long Scenic Air Excursion along the way (Kalama, Sera & Reteti transfers only).

Each passenger is permitted one piece of luggage at a weight allowance of 15kg in a soft bag. Kindly note this is at the pilot’s discretion due to a maximum weight allowance of the aircraft which applies to total amount of passengers and luggage. Passenger numbers and baggage amounts must not exceed this. If necessary, excess luggage can be transferred by road or left for safe storage with Saruni before being delivered back to our guests ahead of their onward journey.

The most spectacular scenic flight. Up to the southern end of Lake Turkana, the worlds largest alkaline lake, regarded as the cradle of mankind. We do a circular flight over the famous Telika caldera, heading south to the active Teleki Volcano to lake Logipi. This is the start of the Suguta Valley, Kenya’s last frontier. Two full circuits of Lake Logipi as there are excellent flocks of flamingos on the water. From Logipi, south over the Suguta river delta, its myriad of channels and colours. South to the weathered volcanic plugs and rock formations and contrasting shades of the Hood and Painted Valleys and the dunes of the Suguta Desert.

Scenic flight over Laikipia to the southern end of Lake Baringo, low level to Lake Bogoria, a haven for Flamingoes, two low level circuits of the lake. Southwards onto Lake Nakuru, low level scenic flight over the lake and then over the acacia forest at the south end, where there are frequently Rhino on the shores. From Nakuru heading north east, circle to gain altitude before flying over the escarpment towards Sosian and Loisaba and due east to Lewa which is a really lovely scenic flight. Over Lewa, with two circuits around the swamps and the Ngare Ndare forest, always guaranteed to see Rhino and Elephant.

Lorian Swamps are probably the most unexplored feature in eastern Kenya. Out towards Merti following the Ewaso Ngiro river at 500feet. The contrasts of landscape and fauna are dramatic, particularly once you get to the Lorian Delta which then explodes into the most amazing green waterways. It is around 40 square kms in area, stunningly beautiful, almost like a miniature Okavango Delta. Little is known about the swamp, due to the hostile terrain. It is not a protected area possibly due to the fact that it is impossible to live there. The swamp is infested with malarial mosquitos and with vectors of the organisms that cause bilharzia. It is home to crocodiles and is visited by many of the large savannah mammals. A full circuit around the swamps and back to Kalama.

Milgis Range are very dramatic hills between the Mathews Mountains and the Ndoto Mountains. The clip faces are multicoloured and the scenery is stunning. Coming back to Kalama over fly Saruni Samburu after exploring this little-know and dramatic landscape, focusing on the famous but remote Milgis Range mountains

Fly over Saruni Samburu, up towards the vast Namunyak conservancy with the stunning emerald mountain forests, a full circuit within the Namunyak bowl and then south towards the sacred mountain Ololokwe to the Ewaso N’giro river, follow the river low level bear south east to Lewa and do a game viewing scenic flight over Lewa, return to Kalama.

Note – pick up and drop off points remain the same for all Scenic Air Excursions. Passengers are collected from and returned to the original agreed departure point. No Scenic Air Excursion can combine a transfer within it.

Due to weight restrictions, standard travel luggage is not accounted for on any Scenic Air Excursion, only light carry-on handbags or back-packs, unless otherwise agreed.

Departure locations for Saruni guests are as follows: Kalama airstrip at Saruni Samburu (30 mins’ from lodge), Sera airstrip at Saruni Rhino (5 mins’ from camp).
