Autonomic Nervous System which affects the sinoatrial node, is

changed every moment by internal or external environment.

HRV, heart rate variability is the degree of fluctuation

in the time intervals between heart beats.

Page 44: Smart Pulse PT

3) ANS Part 3. Background Theory

ANS- Autonomic Nervous System Main Function : Maintaining the Homeostasis as a control system of our internal organs Branch : SNS (Sympathetic Nervous System) & PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System) Acts : heart rate control including hormonal, enzymatic, respiratory, pulmonary, urinary and uterine neural control Diseases related to ANS dysfunction →Diabetes, Hypertension, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Headache, Sudden Death after MI, Depression, Anxiety, Sleep disorder

8) PTG – the base waveform of APG Part 3. Background Theory

Plethysmograph (PTG) The wave form signal that indicates pulsation of chest wall and

great arteries followed by heart beat.

-> Changes the aortic pressure

-> Transmit the pressure change to the peripheral nerve

(transmission time to the finger tip : 0.16sec)

7 levels by the vascular

state

Classifying the wave type as aging

Level 1 : Blood circulation and its vessel are Excellent

Level 2 : Blood circulation and its vessel are Good

Level 3~4 : Start to get aged in the vessel

Level 5 : Not good at the blood circulation and aged state in the vessel

Level 6~7 : Blood circulation Disorder

Page 53: Smart Pulse PT

12) Correlation to the Artery

Normal Blood Vessel Abnormal Blood Vessel

This vessel is located at Level 1 and no any plague around the vessel.

This vessel has a lot of plague and vessel stiffness is also thick so it is located at Level 5~6.

APG is the solution to check your Blood Vessel & Circulation condition.

2) Heart Rate Analysis

Mean Heart Rate: It means the number of heart beats running at every minute on average. Adult people have generally 60~90 heart beats per minute, but it can be different from the age. Those who do a lot of exercise everyday will be under 60 beats per minute for the mean heart rate. However, those who have a lot of stress will be over 90 beats per minute for the mean heart rate. Ectopic Beat : During the measurement, in case of moving up and down severely or having arrhythmia, it will be appeared the abnormal heart rate irregularly. If the ectopic beat is over 5 times for 3 minutes, the person may have arrhythmia or moved too much. Therefore, it is recommended to measure the test again in that case. Although the test seems to be measured correctly, if the ectopic beats appear many times over 5, it seems to be arrhythmia.

Part 4. Test Result Analysis

Page 58: Smart Pulse PT

3-1) Stress Analysis

Waveform of HRV ( Heart Rate Variability ) It is describing the change of heart beat with the graph at real time and the bigger the change of variable heart rate, the healthier it is, the better the stress resistance is and the better autonomic nerve system is also. Autonomic Nerve Balance PNS Dominant: If parasympathetic nerve is excessively dominant, it means that the person has depression or can’t be bothering anything or loses the motivation. Balance: It means that sympathetic nerve and parasympathetic nerve are properly balanced each other. In general, ratio of SNS and PNS is 6:4, 5:5, 4:6 and it means the balance of autonomic nerve system. SNS Dominant: If sympathetic nerve is excessively high, it means that the person has anxiety, irritation, and excessive nervousness. In other words, if the person has excitation or stress severely and has sleep disorder, aggressive character, agitation and overheating on body, it is highly dominant.

Part 4. Test Result Analysis

Page 59: Smart Pulse PT

3-2) Stress Analysis

Physical Stress It means the status of how much gets stress physically. Mental Stress It means that the status of how much gets stress mentally. Stress Resistance As an indicator of how much we are accustomed to the stress, it will be greatly resistant to the stress in the healthy people under the same stress while it will be bad in resistance for the unhealthy people if they lose the resistant ability in body or have a weak autonomic nerve system function. Stress Score It is made by the analysis of total stress and 100 score is the worst while the lower score is the better. Green Color: Low Stress Level Yellow Color: Average in Stress Level Red Color: Excessive Stress Level

Part 4. Test Result Analysis

Page 60: Smart Pulse PT

4-1) Arterial Health Analysis

Level of Arterial It means that the aging level of blood vessel has classified by Type 1 to Type 7 and it describes with percentage (%). Type 1 means the best blood circulation while Type 7 means the worst blood circulation.

Level Analysis by waveform

Part 4. Test Result Analysis

Page 61: Smart Pulse PT

4-2) Arterial Health Analysis Part 4. Test Result Analysis

Eccentric Constriction (Cardiac Output): It means the blood pumping power from left ventricle to aorta by the heart constriction. Arterial Elasticity: It means the arterial elasticity with vibrating waves by the elasticity of wall of blood vessel when the blood flows from the left ventricle. It will be better in a person who has healthy vessel. Remaining Blood Volume It means the blood volume remaining in the vessel without flowing to the aorta by constricting the heart from the waves appearing when the blood hits valves by closing aortic valve. *As aging of blood vessel is processing, the cardiac output is weaker and remaining a lot of volumes. Level of Arterial Health It shows which level is located out of total 7 levels of vascular health. Green color zone: level 1~2 Yellow color zone: level 3 Red color zone: level 4~7

RSA Training

Page 63: Smart Pulse PT

1) RSA Training?

RSA (Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia)? Respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) is a naturally occurring variation in heart rate that occurs during a breathing cycle. With using this to the breath training, we can improve our Biological Rhythm. Effects of RSA Training Reducing & Controlling Stress Improving Autonomic Nerve System Function Maintaining Balanced Emotional State Improving Concentration Increasing Body Energy

Page 64: Smart Pulse PT

2) Change of Heart Rate Pattern by Training

Post-Training Pre-Training

Small Variation of Heart Rate

Irregular HRV signal Unstable Heart Rate Pattern

Big Variation of Heart Rate Regular HRV signal Stable Heart Rate Pattern

Page 65: Smart Pulse PT

3) How to do RSA training

1. Connect the Smart Pulse with your Smart Phone or Tablet by USB Cable or Bluetooth. ( Now, Only Android Devices support the RSA training function. )

2. Select the ‘Breathing’ menu from the Main Screen. 3. Insert your left index finger in Smart Pulse and Start the RSA Training by

selecting the ‘Start’ Button ( ). 4. Go into the Breathing Training according to the guide voice & image.

Cautions for measurement

Page 70: Smart Pulse PT

Cautions for measurement

Do not move or talk during the measurement. Do not exercise and relax about 10 minutes in measuring room before taking

measurement. Do not strain and then take regular breath. Refrain slow breath during taking

measurement. Keep the height of the sensor same to the heart. The measurement should be taken with eye open. Consult with doctor in case of arrhythmia or cardiac disease. Measuring in the morning recommended Refrain from smoking, taking drug or coffee 3 hours prior to the measurement. Refrain drinking the day before taking measurement. Refrain from wearing accessories (ring, watch, manicure on a nail) that may

interfere accurate measurement. Avoid measurement after meal.

Keep quiet and comfortable conditions in the room. (room temp.22℃ ~26℃)
