his religion (AD-DEEN) except that he will be

“So seek (in doing) what is appropriate (do not be extreme), and

come as close as you can (to its teachings), and receive the glad

tidings (of being rewarded), and take it easy (upon yourself), and

gain strength by your worshipping ( D’ua ) in the mornings and

afternoons, and during the last hours of the nights”

“For you have been sent to make things easy (for the people)

and you have not been sent to make things difficult or them.”

A Bedouin urinated in the mosque, and the people rushed to beat

him. Allah’s Messenger s.a.a.w. ordered them to leave him alone,

and ordered for a bucket of water to be poured over the place

where he urinated. The Prophet s.a.a.w. then said:



And [tell them that] I have not created the invisible And [tell them that] I have not created the invisible

Al-Ham-dulil-laah – (All the Praises belongs to Allah)

The first utterance upon our being conscious should be towards us

extolling the Praise of Allah.

This expression itself is taught to us by Allah SWT.

Its true significance (meaning) essentially is consistent with TAUHEED –

“attestation to the Absolute Oneness of Allah” – which thus literally

meant : “I extol Praises of Allah with the Praise which is in accordance

with Allah’s knowledge of Himself (Exalted and transcendent), for none

are able to praise Him adequately except Himself”

Many of us failed to appreciate a great lesson in waking up.Many of us failed to appreciate a great lesson in waking up.

““Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and

those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep.

Our Soul is being returned to us - indeed a great favour from Allah for Our Soul is being returned to us - indeed a great favour from Allah for

extending our life-term. How many people take this for granted, as though extending our life-term. How many people take this for granted, as though

to wake up is as easy like the winding of our alarm-clock.to wake up is as easy like the winding of our alarm-clock.

The mention of “Soul (The mention of “Soul (RURUHH) ” is of a tremendous importance today – ) ” is of a tremendous importance today –

where ‘materialism-atheism’ ideology held sway in influencing modern where ‘materialism-atheism’ ideology held sway in influencing modern

men to disregard religiosity and matters of the unseen and of spiritual men to disregard religiosity and matters of the unseen and of spiritual

realm (realm (REALITYREALITY) as taught by Islam.) as taught by Islam.

Yet, what differentiates a corpse from that of a sleeping person?Yet, what differentiates a corpse from that of a sleeping person?

Even the condition of our physical body being kept in good health and Even the condition of our physical body being kept in good health and

well-being upon waking up, is something for us to be amazed of and be well-being upon waking up, is something for us to be amazed of and be

We were totally not conscious, immobilized, not in control of all our We were totally not conscious, immobilized, not in control of all our

physical body for 6-8 hours. Yet, in waking up, we expect everything physical body for 6-8 hours. Yet, in waking up, we expect everything

Many of us take our ability to sleep and then to be awaken from sleep, Many of us take our ability to sleep and then to be awaken from sleep,

for granted. Those who has trouble resort to pills, hypnotism or other for granted. Those who has trouble resort to pills, hypnotism or other

forms of escapism, which in some case they would even resort to suicide.forms of escapism, which in some case they would even resort to suicide.

Sleep depravity, indeed can be torturous. Also, to be in coma would be Sleep depravity, indeed can be torturous. Also, to be in coma would be

burdensome. So appreciate the value in these.burdensome. So appreciate the value in these.

Also today, cases of ‘sudden death’ while in their sleep is common.Also today, cases of ‘sudden death’ while in their sleep is common.

We must realize and admit our being heedless. This heedlessness is due We must realize and admit our being heedless. This heedlessness is due

Allah SWT is -Allah SWT is - AR-RAAR-RAHHMAANMAAN (The Most Gracious i.e. exceedingly kind (The Most Gracious i.e. exceedingly kind

and generous with His bestowals), that we are in fact unable even to and generous with His bestowals), that we are in fact unable even to

enumerate these ‘favours’ (enumerate these ‘favours’ (NI’MAHNI’MAH). ).


“And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you

should count the favour of Allah, you could not

enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most

unjust (ZALUMUN) and ungrateful (KAFFAA-R).”

(Qur’an: Ibrahim: 14: 34 )

Indeed, to be awakened from sleep is in fact a reminder for us regarding Indeed, to be awakened from sleep is in fact a reminder for us regarding

regard our being restored safe and wholesome indeed should be regard our being restored safe and wholesome indeed should be

appreciated – for Allah SWT assured us that by being grateful, He will appreciated – for Allah SWT assured us that by being grateful, He will

grant us more favours. On Resurrection day, not everyone will be restored grant us more favours. On Resurrection day, not everyone will be restored

Reliance upon Allah SWT as our Lord and Protector, in Whom, alone, the Reliance upon Allah SWT as our Lord and Protector, in Whom, alone, the

fate of our Life or Death depends. We must never be like some cowardly fate of our Life or Death depends. We must never be like some cowardly

people who, fearing Death, pragmatically and easily compromised their people who, fearing Death, pragmatically and easily compromised their

Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what

Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector":

and on Allah let the Believers put their trust.

(Qur’an: Taubah: 9: 51)

And all Praise is rightfully His, unto to Whom all things becomes, and And all Praise is rightfully His, unto to Whom all things becomes, and

without Whose Power, nothing is possible nor anyone is capable. Thus without Whose Power, nothing is possible nor anyone is capable. Thus

we believe that Allah SWT can intervene in our life. He is our Protector we believe that Allah SWT can intervene in our life. He is our Protector

and to Whom we seek refuge in, from every harm in this world and the and to Whom we seek refuge in, from every harm in this world and the

which we may have inadvertently ascribe regarding Your attributes.which we may have inadvertently ascribe regarding Your attributes.

“I seek forgiveness of You for my sins, and

I beseech from You (to bestow upon me) Your Mercy ”

Indeed, we admit our faults and sins, seeking Your Forgiveness O Allah.Indeed, we admit our faults and sins, seeking Your Forgiveness O Allah.

We are taught by You to never despair from Your Mercy, therefore we We are taught by You to never despair from Your Mercy, therefore we

implore You to be Merciful towards us. implore You to be Merciful towards us.

Do forgive us and our family and loved ones.Do forgive us and our family and loved ones.

Your have said that Your Mercy is over even Your Wrath, so cover us all Your have said that Your Mercy is over even Your Wrath, so cover us all

look towards us with Your Mercy, in every moment and on every state.look towards us with Your Mercy, in every moment and on every state.

Indeed You, O Allah, is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.Indeed You, O Allah, is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
