Skills Profiler Activity

This activity will help you to:

• Identify your current skill set

• Learn the most important skills related to your intended career

• Compare your skills with those needed to succeed in your field

Begin using the option to

“Start with your skills”

• Select your skills - be honest with yourself!• Click continue • Next, you will be asked to “rank” those skills

• Your skills profile will then be displayed• Take a moment to review your skill set• Scroll to the bottom and click “Compare Your Skills to an Occupation”

• Type the specific job title you are interested in• Click continue

• Choose the occupation that most closely matches your desired job title• Click continue

This shows:• Skills you have that match your desired position• Areas in which you’ll need more training • Skills you are missing, and will need to obtain

Reflection

• Take a moment to reflect on the results of the Skills Profile Comparison

• Consider:

– Where do you stand in terms of your career goals?

– Are you surprised at any of the skills required for your desired position?

– How might you close gaps in your skill set?
