Select, colour range then click on the colour you want to keep out of the picture. Then click on select, inverse, then click delete, then go on select, deselect. You`re then left with the colour you clicked on originally.Move the fuzziness up or down to change what is being selected. Parts highlighted white are the parts that are selected.

Select the Magnetic lasso icon third down on the tools bar on left hand side. (One with little magnet and lasso). The click and drag round the edges of the item you want to select. Press delete to delete the selected item or inverse to delete the area around the item you selected.

Select brush icon (8 down left hand side). The click on the small folder icon with brushes on at the top. The list of different brushes will then come out on the right hand side. Click on the brush you want to use, move the spacing bar up or down depending on how big of a space you want between the brush patterns.

Click on Image, adjustments then brightness/contrast and you can alter the brightness and contrast of the image of writing.

Click on the magic wand tool (4th down on the left hand side). You can then click on the part of the image you want to delete. For example you could click on the background of a picture and delete it.
