Our Club supported the ‘Wine Down ITB Asia 2019’, which was held on 17 October 2019 at Swissotel, Bar Rouge, Level 71. The event was hosted by our Skalleague Andrew Chan of ACIHR and what an evening it was, with members networking and meeting up with visiting Skalleagues. This year, ITB Asia organized a ‘Future Leaders’ seminar, which was well attended by 180 students from various tourism institutes. We took the opportunity to promote Young Skal.

EVENTS in OCTOBER – SKAL CLUBS IN

INDIA

Skal Club Of Hyderabad Member Sk. Tarun Kakani started off with Water Sports activity in Chilka Lake in Odisha on 17th October 2019. Skal Club Of Goa participated in Vibrant Goa event held from 17th October to 19th October 2019. The stall was manned by Skal Club Of Goa Members & there were good interactions with a wide cross-section of individuals across industries. Skal International Mysuru was approved on 18th October 2019 with Registration Nos 736. Launch date announced as 8th November 2019. Skal Club Of Bangalore celebrated Octoberfest at Taj Westend on 19th October 2019 & saw spirited participation from Member Skalleagues. Skal Club of Goa -Mr. David Seed Foundation gave an inspiring talk on organic waste & waste water management for Goan Skalleagues. Sk. Jude Sodder & Prashant Korgaonkar offered a cheque of Rs. 100000/- each to Konkan Development Society for Charity purpose. Sk. O Varghese exchanged Club Flags with Goa Skal Club President Sk. Ernest Dias. Sk. Mughis Khan of Skal Club Of Mumbai South also attended the event. Subraminium Skal Chennai and many Skal International members from Bengaluru were in attendance.

28th Annual English & Japanese Speech

Contest of The Japan Hotel School

On 6 Nov, 60 members of Young Skal Club Japan took

the memorial photo with Mr. Fabien Clerc, President

Skal International Tokyo, VP East Asia SI who attended

as one of guest judges at the 28th Annual English &

Japanese Speech Contest of The Japan Hotel School.

On the day, 10 contestants presented their speeches

for 17 judges from the industry, 700 student hearers,

50 parents and teachers’ audiences at the Nakano

Zero Hall, Tokyo.

The newly elected President of the Club, Sk Suresh Charles mentioned that “Mysuru is a heritage city and an Internationally recognised brand which also serves as a hub for all the tourist spots in and around with hill stations, wildlife reserves, waterfalls and yoga tourism. It is the right time to start the club with all the stake holders actively engaging to make Mysuru a sought-after destination”

Skal International Mysuru was inaugurated on Frida y November 8th with 22 members – consisting of hoteliers, airlines, travel and tour operator, Hotel Management Institutions and Government agencies from Mysuru and surrounding areas of Coorg, Bandipur, and Kabini (Famous for Wild life sanctuaries). It was hosted by The Grand Mercure Hotel. Sk. Suresh Charles was appointed as the President, Sk. Prashanth B was appointed as Vice President and Sk Sunaina Manerker as Secretary of the Skal International Mysuru.

The Charter Document was handed over by Sk Vijay Mohan Raj -Director -Skal International, Sk Sanjay Datta – President SKAL Asia and Sk Ranjini Nambiar - President SKAL International India – she also delivered The Presidential Chain & Oath to the newly elected Club President Sk Suresh Charles.

Sk Sanjay Datta – President SKAL Asia, also presented a Skal Asia standee and flag to Skal Mysuru, to display for all their meetings. VP West Asia, Keethi Jayaweera, handed over Skal Colombo flag to President Suresh Charles, the Asia exec committee was also represented by Sk Dushy Jayaweera, Director, membership development, Sk Shalini Charles, Director Young Skal and Sk P K Mohankumar, Director, P R and communications.

Sk Carl Vaz, VP 1, Skal India spoke of benefits of joining Skal and extended all support to the new Skalleagues, Sk Sekhar Diwadkar, Secretary Skal India, Sk Kamal Hingorani, Director PR and membership development and Sk Shailesh Nair, Treasurer, Skal India were also graced the occasion.

the entire Skal Goan EC Team in the presence of

the Chief Minister Shri .Pema Khandu.

The Skal Goa EC Team covered Guwahati, Derang,

Tawang, Shillong & Sohra & also celebrated

birthdays of 2 of our Skalleague Team Members –

The trip was filled with flavours of adventure,

history, music, culture & bonding.

The authorities have also shown interest in having

Skal Clubs in their State.

Bengali ethnic snack is now the signature

dish for Skal meetings in Bangalore.

Ghughani is a dry pea based any time snack served with bread. Recipe…dry pea soaked overnight, boiled with turmeric, salt, green chillies and is reduced till peas fully boiled and thick. The Tadka with mustard oil & spices, with fine chopped onion, coriander, lemon garnished with sev. Bon Appetit.
