On 31st July 2015 Bhoomi Madha Day was celebrated in a grandeur manner, when the students of Sankara Polytechnic (SPC), Sankara Arts and Science (SANSAC) and Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS) observed ten minutes silence with power and electronic gadgets off and by not touching the ground with foot during this time. They also formed a human chain with placards to raise awareness on preserving the mother earth. The day was dedicated to our former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and in his memory 84 saplings were planted within the institution campus. Mr. P.R. Natarajan, Retd. Superintendent Engineer, TNEB sponsored the saplings and oriented the students on the need to preserve earth and make it a livable planet for the future generations. Swami Rabhya from Isha Yoga Centre highlighted the importance of Tree Plantation with short stories among the students.
