What is a Simple Machine

A simple machine is a non complicated machines that makes it easier to live. They aren't powered by electricity.Examples of what these things do are lift things, pull things, and hold objects together.

Inclined PlaneA Inclined plane makes moving things easier. Although the distance is a little bit longer the effect is much less.This simple machine is a ramp that it use daily for people in wheel chairs. A few examples are tub slopes, a ramp for a wheel chair, and a ramp use for a delivery truck.

Wedge

A wedge is two inclined attached back to back. It is used to force things apart. It works like a ramp, but it isn't. Some examples are the head a ax, Knifes, tines of a fork, and a shovel.

Screw

Screws hold two objects together with threads. The thread is the spiral around the center post. The center post has a wedge at the end of it. Examples of a screw are bottles of water, and lids of jars

Pulley

A pulley makes pulling things up easier. It does this by working with gravity. What it really is a wheel attached to a rope.It is also a safe and simple way to pull things up. One examples is a flag pole.

Lever

A lever is a bar that pivots. So it turns on a fix point or fulcrum. The fulcrum is the middle part. A lever helps people lift things. A few examples are a seesaws, shovels, crow bar, and catapult.

Wheel and Axle

A wheel and axle is 2 wheels with a rod attached to it. If the wheel turns then the axle turns. A few examples are a doorknob, fan, and a water faucet.
