WORDS

Words don’t come

Like that ABC shorthand

They sometimes play around on the edges of the mindTeasing with meaning that isn’t fully expressed

You know what they mean

But the listener won’t because you’ve forgotten the vowels

The consonants just don’t make sense alone

So the full words won’t come

Just like that forwarded e-mail

Where there are so many names

They can’t really be read

They jumble together in the mind

Trying to convey...Something

But they hide under the flotsam

Of old half-forgotten conversations

And old wounds that fester even when hidden

So the things they represent don’t get said

or heard or even softly spoken in the mind

Words just don’t come….
