¤ Latin textbook: Cambridge Latin Course Unit I
In Latin 2, you will:
¨ Review material from Latin I ¨ Learn intermediate grammar and vocabulary ¨ Continue to develop skills necessary to read Latin
texts ¨ Expand your understanding of Greco-Roman
civilization, English derivatives, and oral Latin
¤ Latin textbook: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 2
In Latin 3, you will:
¨ Learn more complex grammatical concepts and vocabulary
¨ Read stories of increasing length and complexity that pertain to the expansion of the Roman Empire
¨ Continue the study of Greco-Roman civilization, English derivatives, and oral Latin
¤ Latin textbook: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 3
In Latin 4 Honors, you will:
¨ Learn more complex grammatical concepts and vocabulary
¨ Be introduced to the reading and interpretation of authentic Latin literature
¨ Learn the basics of Latin poetry including scansion and literary devices
¨ Explore Roman culture and history, English derivatives, and Latin grammar relevant to the literary text
¤ Latin textbook: Cambridge Latin Course Unit 4
In Latin 5 Honors, you will:
¨ Review Latin grammar and vocabulary ¨ Translate authentic text of various Roman authors ¨ Read aloud Latin verse in meter ¨ Analyze stylistic technique ¨ Interpret the author’s intent through word choice,
syntax and mythological and historical allusions ¨ Explore pertinent history and mythology ¨ Increase vocabulary through the study of English
derivatives
¤ Latin texts: Various textbooks by various authors (Ovid, Cicero, Caesar, Vergil, and more!). Your text may be a textbook or a paper packet.
In Latin 6 AP, you will:
¨ Read and translate selected portions of Vergil’s Aeneid and Caesar’s Gallic War in Latin and in English
¨ Practice reading Latin at sight ¨ Examine the historical, social, cultural, and political
context of the works ¨ Interpret the works from a critical perspective and
create analytical pieces of writing
¤ Latin texts: College Caesar & Boyd’s Aeneid n Your Caesar text is a 1” thick packet. n Plan binder space for it.

¨ 3-ring binder (1 ½ - 2 inches) ¤ AP: Consider larger (2 ½ - 3 inches)
¨ college-ruled loose leaf paper ¨ 6 dividers ¨ pencils/pens (blue or black ink) ¨ 6-color highlighter pack

¨ dry erase marker ¨ disinfectant wipes OR box of tissues ¨ email address—to create Edmodo account ¨ index cards (optional for vocabulary practice) ¨ LatàEng dictionary—Cassell’s, Bantam, or Collins (optional)
