Ease of use and efficiency

Clamping test sieves does not get any easier, faster and safer than with theclamping device “comfort”. The trick: simply press the upper lever to clampthe sieves tight. After the sieving is completed, the sieve stack can be with-drawn without having to completely take off the lid. Thus, time and powerare saved.

In all “control” models, 9 different parameter combi-nations can be saved. Thus, repetitive sieve analyses canbe performed quickly and efficiently. Errors due to wrongparameter entries are prevented.

Superior drive mechanism

The core of each RETSCH projectionsieve shaker is the electromagneticdrive. It produces a throwing motionthat moves the product to be sievedequally over the whole sievingsurface. Unique operation in accelerated mode

In RETSCH sieve shakers the intensityof the movement can be set either inmm as vibration height or in “g” asacceleration (acceleration due togravity, 9.81 m/s2), independent ofthe power frequency. “Sieving with

equal acceleration” means obtaining worldwide comparable and reproducibleresults, completely independent of operational parameters such as powerfrequency, load, age or condition of the machine. This feature is unique toRETSCH sieve shakers.

AS 200 control

The AS 200 control complies with thehighest requirements in quality as-surance. Thus, the AS 200control ensures comparable and re-producible sieving results world-wide. AS 300 control

The AS 300 control is specificallydesigned for test sieves with a dia-meter of 305 mm (12"). Comparedto sieves with a diameter of 200 mm,a 2.25 times larger sieving surface isthus available. Therefore, the averagesieving times can be greatly reducedwith the AS 300 control. Another advantage is the large feed quan-tity (up to 6 kg) that can be separa-ted in one working run. Repetitiveoperations can be greatly simplifiedwith the possibility to store up to9 parameter combinations directlyin the sieving instrument.For perfectly reproducible sieving re-sults, the AS 300 control can be pro-

The worldwide uniqueRETSCH technology:sieving with controlledacceleration!

The sieve shakers AS 200 controland AS 300 control are activatedin their natural frequency. Thismeans, the sieving frequencychanges with the loading of theinstrument. It depends on theweight of the sieve stack and thequantity of the loaded product tobe sieved. In order to ensure thereproducibility of the results evenin short-time sieving procedures,the default setting of the vibrationheight can be switched to sieveacceleration (sieving with equalacceleration). Thus, the instru-ments work completely indepen-dent of operational parameterssuch as power frequency,loading, age, or condition ofthe unit.

Therefore, the RETSCH sieveshakers AS 200 control andAS 300 control are the only sieveshakers to feature the possibilityof eliminating influences of errorby different sieving frequenciesvia automatic adjustment of theamplitude (patents D 19 522 987,USA 5,791,494). An amplitude ofmore than 2 mm can be achievedunder all nominal load conditions,and the sieve acceleration achievedin this can be as high as 17 g (1 g = 9.81 m/s2).

AS 400 control

The base plate performs horizon-tal circular motions with a radius of15 mm (according to DIN 53477).The speed of 50 to 300 rpm iselectronically controlled. It is con-tinuously adjustable to meet therequirements of the product to be

sieved. The actual value of thenumber of revolutions is digitallydisplayed. The base plate isdriven by a robust, maintenance-free drive motor with a power of125 Watt. The power is trans-mitted via an eccentric.

Sieving on one level

The RETSCH AS 400 control is used for the sieving of dry goods with test sieves of a diameter up to 400 mm.The uniform, horizontal circular motion ensures exactseparation of the product to be sieved. Fine and coarse-grained goods as found in the areas of milling, brewing,chemical industry, quarries, soil testing, woodworking andplastics industry, can be exactly separated with theAS 400 control. The horizontal circular motion is particu-larly suitable for the separation of certain products, asmilled grain, splints and similar materials. For the testingof plastics (grainy moulding materials), the DIN 53 477even requires the circular sieving motion.

AS 400 control

The AS 400 control can be used astest instrument for the quality controlaccording to DIN EN ISO 9000 ff.Due to the controlled drive theAS 400 control yields reproducibleresults worldwide. The desired numberof revolutions / sieve accelerationand sieving time are set, displayedand monitored digitally. Theinstrument is supplied with a testcertificate and can be recalibrated.If desired, the rotation direction canbe set to alternate in the interval. Up to 9 sieving programs can bedirectly stored for routine analyses.

An integrated counter mass ensuresstability even with a high mass of thesieve stack. The instrument can alsobe secured to the laboratory bench ifdesired. The base plate can takevery high loads due to 4 eccentricguides. The AS 400 control has anintegrated interface for controllingall sieving parameters via theEasySieve® software. The requiredinterface cable is included in delivery.

The AS 400 control is a robust device,which meets highest requirementsdue to its superior technology. Withthe option to install clamping devicesfor sieves with diameters from 100 mmto 400 mm (4" to 16") the AS 400 isparticularly versatile and suitablefor a wide range of applications.

Using the proven clamping device“comfort” the sieve stack can befastened conveniently with twosimple steps. For occasional sievingprocesses we recommend theinexpensive clamp “standard”.

AS 200 tap technology

The AS 200 tap is equipped witha powerful single-phase a.c.motor. The sieve plate performshorizontal circular motions with aradius of 14 mm.

The mechanical gear keeps thenumber of oscillations (280 min-1) as well as the number of taps (150 min-1) constant, even withhigh loads.

Mechanizing hand sieving

The RETSCH AS 200 tap is suitable for dry sieving withtest sieves of 200 mm or 8“ diameter. The combinationof horizontal, circular sieving motions with vertical tapsreproduces the principle of hand sieving. The uniformmechanical action ensures reliable and reproducible measurement results.

This special type of sieving motion used by the AS 200tap is specified in various standards for particle sizeanalysis of materials such as activated carbon, dia-monds, spices, metal powders, abrasives or cement.

AS 200 tap

Operating the AS 200 tap is excep-tionally easy and safe. The inte-grated clamping device allows forsieve stacks with up to 12 sieves,plus pan, depending on the height ofthe sieve frame. The sieving time isset from 1 to 99 minutes via a digitaldisplay. The number of rotations andtaps is fixed and cannot be adjusted.The tapping motion can be deactivat-ed, if required. A safety switch and an anti-trap pro-

tection provide maximum safetywhen working with the AS 200 tap.

Thanks to an integrated interface,the AS 200 tap can be controlledwith the evaluation softwareEasySieve®. This program enablesyou to control the whole sievingprocess and the subsequent docu-mentation with convenience and accuracy. The required interfacecable is part of the delivery scope.

The AS 200 tap is a robust sieveshaker which requires no mainte-nance. The sound-enclosure cabinethelps to substantially reduce noiseemission.

Advanced Manufacturing Process

The demands made of particle sizeanalysis are constantly increasing.This is also reflected in the greaterrequirements made in the standardISO 3310.

In order to adapt our test sieves tothese requirements, RETSCH hasdeveloped a unique manufacturingprocess that guarantees a previouslyunattained quality and consistency insieve production. In addition, alogistic manufacturing system makesit possible to record each and everymaterial used in the process.

Precision andCompatibility

The sieves are fully compatible withRETSCH’s existing products and canbe combined with other sieveswithout any problems. Beyond this,there's something important for you:each and every sieve that leaves ourcompany includes a test report or, atyour request, a special inspectioncertificate in conformity withISO 3310-1. RETSCH's calibrationcertificates ensure a higher statisticalreliability and document ourcontinual quest for perfection.

RETSCH’s sieves are available in thefour most widely used sizes:

200 x 50 mm 200 x 25 mm 203 x 50 mm (8"x 2").203 x 25 mm (8"x 1").

Of course, we guarantee compa-tibility with other standard sieves.

Calibration service

As a special service, we offer to re-calibrate your test sieves. After thestandard measuring process, all rele-vant data are recorded and confirmedin the calibration certificate, ifdesired.
