Dear Participant,

Welcome to the Great Himalayan Outdoors! It will be our endeavour to

ensure that you have a safe, meaningful and memorable experience

with us.

The value and fun you derive out of your outdoor experience depends

upon your level of preparation- both mental and physical. During the

programme, you will be exposed to an alien environment and flexibility

and a sense of curiosity will ensure proper appreciation of the experi-

ence. It is very important to get yourself in good physical condition

before the trip. Mild exercises and jogging should suffice. From years of

experience in operating adventure trips, we have learnt that bringing

along your spirit of adventure is also extremely important.

This dossier is designed to impart an outline of the programme, some

facts about the camp and to serve as a guide in preparing you for your

adventure. We urge you to read this information carefully as the

following pages will answer most of your questions. If any further

questions come to mind as you prepare yourself for the trip, please do

not hesitate to get in touch with us.

As you step into a crucial stage of your life and step out of the cocoon

that your home and school provided you, we hope this experience will

better prepare you to handle the challenges ahead and help you become

sensitive global citizens.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Great Outdoors!

About the programme:

The programme with the Shriram Aspen Leadership School will take

you on a 15-day sojourn at the foothills of the Himalayas. The

designated venue for the programme is Snow Leopard Adventures

Camp Panther. It is located 16 kms ahead of Rishikesh in Shivpuri

village in Uttarakhand.

The sacred river, Ganga, flows through the area. In fact, it is here that

the river leaves the Shivalik mountains and flows out into the plains of

North India. Several temples, ancient as well as new, can be found

along the banks of the Ganges. The city attracts thousands of pilgrims

and tourists each year, from within India. Rishikesh, often referred to

as the "the world capital of Yoga", has numerous yoga centres that also

attract tourists. Shivpuri is the adventure hub of India and is known

for its exciting soft adventure activities such as rafting, kayaking, hiking

rappelling etc.

The experiences of falling asleep to the gurgling sound of the mighty

Ganga, of trekking through mossy mountain trails, of visiting an

orphanage, of learning to work together as a team, of discovering

friends among strangers – these are all invaluable life experiences that

are sure to benefit the young participants.
