Shout Out to the Fourth Year of the College and Career Expo!
Don’t forget that everyone is invited!
The 4th “What’s After High School?” College and Career Expo will be on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 4
pm to 7 pm. The Expo will be held at the new Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) located at
2550 Buckingham Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
The event is free, open to the public (all ages) and will feature more than 40 exhibitors: colleges, career
representatives, companies, summer camps and community resources. There’s something for
everyone.
The Expo is a collaborative effort between the Alamance Burlington School System, Alamance Citizens
for Education (ACE), the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, Alamance County Public
Libraries, Burlington Parks & Recreation and JobLink/Employment Security. Our goals for this event are:
• To raise awareness of college and employment opportunities after high school--especially
opportunities in our community and nearby;
• To motivate students to begin serious planning and preparation for life after high school BEFORE
the 12th grade;
• To instill in students and their families that the opportunities represented at the Expo are
achievable by everyone and
• To highlight the skills and technology our students need to be successful in 21st century jobs and
careers.

students that being
active is fun. The
Prek-2 staff (The
Princesses) went up
against the 3-5 staff
(The Justice League).
Principal Michele
Woodson was all
smiles (even after her
team lost 3-0). Good
sportsmanship was
encouraged and shown throughout the gym.
The students cheered for their team, waving hand-made signs encouraging the players. In the
end, it didn’t matter what team won. Both teams did their part in raising money for cancer
research. The students all left for a week off with grins on their faces!”
