One time, I stumbled upon a Davao-based bookshop selling Cassell’s Dictionary of Superstitions by David Pickering. I bought it primarily because I’m fascinated with the stories behind myths and legends. A week later, it arrived. Another week passed by before I started browsing it. Something (maybe my dead ancestors again—oh, that sounds creepy) pushed me to look up the word “wedding”. Bless my ancestors, there are indeed quite a lot of things under the word—the good omens and the bad ones.
