So here’s some useful information about the area around Shires Grove.

Less than two miles’ drive from the A1(M) and around half an hour’s drive from Leeds, Harrogate or York, Shires Grove enhances its extremely convenient location with a beautiful semi-rural setting. Bus service 770, to Leeds and Harrogate via Wetherby, runs every half hour until around 6pm, and once an hour in the evenings. There are also less frequent services to Tadcaster, Otley, Wakefield and other local towns.
Shires Grove is around half a mile from Boston Spa’s picturesque High Street, a conservation area where the choice of shops includes a pharmacy, a post office, news-agents, convenience stores and traditional butchers and bakers shops alongside hairdressers, an optician, a bank, a travel agency and a filling station. The high street also offers a selection of restaurants, cafés, hot food takeaways and traditional pubs, and a monthly Farmers’ Market is held in the Village Hall. Recycling facilities for glass, paper and household packaging can be found at Thorpe Arch Estate, north of the River Wharfe.

From the A1(M)Leave the motorway at junction 45, and at the roundabout follow signs for Boston Spa via the A659. Carry straight on into Boston Spa High Street, and around a mile and a quarter after leaving the motorway, turn right following the sign for Martin House Hospice. Quarter of a mile on, turn left into Grove Road and Shires Grove is on the right, 200 yards on.
From York and the EastTake the A64 past Copmanthorpe, and after crossing the River Wharfe bear left and follow signs for Tadcaster via the A162, turning right at the first T-junction. Stay on the A162 into Tadcaster, then follow signs for Boston Spa via the A659 for three miles, and 350 yards after entering the Boston Spa 30mph zone turn left into Grove Road, signposted for Martin House Hospice. Shires Grove is on the left, 350 yards on.
