A Global Youth Exchange Service Project
Involving Youth Exchange students during their time abroad!
Inspired by Mia Farrow's presentation at the 2009 Rotary Convention in Birmingham
Initiated by Ivan L. Vianna (Rotarian District 4760 - Brazil)
The story behind the project
I saw an 0pportunity to combine the united efforts of YE students
Each year YE students get involved in service projects during their year abroad
I proposed to involve YE students in ONE single global service project
This global service project was first presented at the NAYEN Conference in 2010 and again in September 2010 at the EEMA ConferenceIvan L. Vianna

SHELTERBOX OPERATIONS
2010
The first team arrived 36 hours after the earthquake.
32,000 'ShelterBoxes' were distributed.
More than 275,000 people were put in shelter.
ShelterBox distributed 42,000 boxes in 17 countries in 2010.
SRT (ShelterBox Response Teams) ensure boxes go
to the most needy.
There are 150 trained SRTs worldwide!
There are pre-positioned 'ShelterBoxes' in different
worldwide locations.
Thanks to pre-positioned stock in Pakistan ShelterBox was able to
distribute 2,000 tents within 48 hours of the floods.
In the field, ShelterBox operates with major players such as the Red Cross, IOM,
World Vision and other (non-) governmental organizations.
ShelterBox provides shelter, warmth and dignity.
Our challenge is to put 500,000 people into shelter
every year!
There are 18 ShelterBox affiliates worldwide, all managed by Rotarians!
EACH BOX IS
UNIQUE !
ShelterBox gives each box its own unique number, so donors can track it via the website
to its final destination
