Australia’s largest ICT infrastructure event

For many years, BICSI has advocated for ICT standards, participating in the development of local and international standards and promoting their adoption. These standards are essential in setting guidelines for the entire ICT industry, ensuring uniformity, interoperability and performance. They also set vital benchmarks for safety, quality and customer expectations. In short — they set the tone for professionalism in our industry.

This year is a landmark year for ICT standards, with many important standards and regulations being released. In recognition of this, BICSI’s 2019 ‘Setting the Standards’ themed conference will focus on these critical standards, with relevant presentations delivered by subject matter experts, as well as workshops and benchmark standards testing in the exhibition hall.

What’s the focus?The conference program will focus on the key ICT standards – both local and international – that have been recently introduced or updated over the last couple of years. These standards have far-reaching implications on the deployment of leading-edge technologies that affect the way we work and live, in areas like smart buildings and smart cities, the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-security, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles and augmented workforce, to name a few.

Delegates will hear from local and international subject matter experts on topics such as:• The latest ICT Infrastructure design methodologies for ‘future- proof’ performance, regardless of application;• The latest industry standards and their ramifications to our industry;• Where 5G fits into the future of data communications and how to address it;

• The unique communications, power, security and environmental needs of data centres and how to validate their performance;• Smart Buildings/Cities and the impact of IoT; and• Future technical and industry trends.

Who will attend?All ICT professionals — including end users, consultants, integrators, installers and suppliers — who are directly or indirectly involved in any aspect of ICT infrastructure, including the specification, design, installation or management of ICT networks.• Data centre professionals, including design, installation or management responsibilities.• Facility management personnel involved in all aspects of building services design, installation, maintenance and management.• Educators and students in ICT and other related services and technology fields.• Telecommunications carrier personnel.

What’s happening?• The Exhibition Hall will showcase the latest ICT infrastructure products and services. • The Cabling Skills Challenge Grand Final will see individual winners of the regional heats vying for the right to represent the South Pacific at the BICSI Internationals Cabling Skills Challenge in the US in 2019. • The Awards Dinner will feature the BICSI South Pacific Excellence Awards for design and excellence. • An information packed, two-day, two-stream conference.

Pending approval, this conference fulfils the BICSI credential conference attendance requirement. Over the past few years, each BICSI South Pacific Conference has provided 15 CECs for BICSI credentialed delegates who attend the full conference.
