Dear Colleague,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in the2nd annual Soldier Equipment and TechnologyAdvancement Forum (SETAF) 2016, taking place from the14th to the 15th of March in London.

The dismounted soldier remains at the forefront of anyeffective ground based operation and is called uponagain and again in a wide range of operational andpeacekeeping environments. It is with these growing andevolving mission sets that soldier modernisationprogramme managers find themselves having to re-think and constantly improve capability andequipment.

With a recent acceleration in available technology, thecapacity for development holds more potential than ever, and the collaboration needed between military andindustry remains increasingly important.

Through focused networking and discussion of the assetsthat can increase mission effectiveness, the SoldierEquipment and Technology Advancement Forum shallbring together key stake holders from across thecommunity, to help the soldier of today and tomorrowadvance.

I would ask you to pay particular attention to ourconference agenda, which has been put together withgreat care to ensure the very best opportunities to benchmark and learn from subject matter experts, discussingand explaining the technologies and operational doctrinecentral to the effectiveness of the dismounted soldier.

Only by sharing ideas through the medium of networkingcan we develop and enhance our approach andsolutions to military programmes. I urge you to join us onconference day, to benefit from this unique forum.

Yours Sincerely,

Colonel (ret) Richard Hansen, FormerProgramme Manager, Soldier Warrior, PEO Soldier, US Army, United States

As defence technology accelerates and new capability becomes available to thedismounted soldier, programme managers must make considered decisions whenprocuring and integrating new equipment into their respective systems.

Modern soldier programme managers face an array of day to day challenges. Whetherthis be working with R&D departments to define what is possible for the soldier, rightthrough to managing procurement and the financials behind the programme. Thisworkshop will share the US Army experiences right up to the modern day on how toeffectively manage large soldier system procurements.

Drawing on his extensive experience as Former Programme Manager for PEO Soldier,Soldier Warrior, Colonel (ret) Richard Hansen will share his knowledge of programmemanagement from acquisition to integration, addressing many of the challenges andsuccesses associated with contemporary soldier modernisation projects.

Former Program Manager, Soldier Warrior, PEO Soldier, US Army COL(R) Hansen spent 26 years in the US Army in both the war fighting and acquisition fields. He held variouscommand and staff positions in self-propelled, towed, and airborne artillery units and firesupport elements.
