Our church will pray and sup-port his ministry for with $18,000 over the next 3 years. Please continue to pray for them and their ministry; prayer requests are on the other side.

He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Judson University (B.A.), and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.A., D.Min). He and his wife Jean have been married since 1983 and have four children.

Wednesday and Saturday Prayer Meeting at Blanchard Alliance Church, Warrenville: The engine that drives our church is our prayer meeting on Wednesdays at 7 PM and Saturdays at 7 AM. We meet at Blanchard Alliance Church, Warrenville campus (30W251 Butterfield Road, Warrenville, IL 60555), 1/4 mile west of Rte. 59 on Butterfield Rd. (Rte. 56). Come join us!

Small Group Questions1. David’s Psalm challenges us to extol the LORD at all times. That sounds difficult to do, especially during the difficult times. Why is it so important to continue extoling the LORD during the difficult times?2. In verses 4-7, we find that God heard, answered, and delivered David. Has the LORD answered your prayers in a suprising way? How?3. We find that David begins to desire for others to “taste and see that the LORD is good.” What would that look like for you to desire for your family, friends, or co-workers to “taste and see that the LORD is good?”4. Spend some time thanking the LORD for how He has seen our need for deliverance, and sent His son, Jesus the Christ, to deliver us through the cross. Specifically, please pray that God would work in the lives of specific individuals who need to “taste and see that the LORD is good.”

June 15, 2014

A couple of weeks ago, I (P. Mitch) took a screen shot of my phone, and somebody com-mented, “Is that really 26,794 unread messages on your phone? There has to be at least one of them that is actually important.” I hung my head in shame. I always lived with this unshakable feeling that I was behind in my email. Although I had read each of those messages, I knew that a couple of issues were still hanging. Today, my email inbox is officially at 0. I can show you my phone to prove it! My study leave began this past Monday morning, I already feel greatly refreshed. Physically, I did not realize how tired my body has become. I caught up on sleep. I started exercising again, running and swimming almost every day this week. I played a game of pickup soccer by my house. My body feels more alive than it has been in a long time. Spiritually, my prayer has been for a pure heart. God promises those with clean hands and a pure heart to receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salva-tion (Ps. 24:4). I long that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in His sight (Ps. 19:14). These past few years at Living Water have simply been wonderful. We have gone through challenges, and the Lord is bringing us into a season of harvest. However, abundance can tempt us to pride as much as struggle can tempt us with despair! Through abundance and struggle, our Father desires a pure heart. This desire for a pure heart has led me to reread Dostoevsky’s The Idiot, about a “truly beautiful soul” in Russia. I hope to be an “idiot” for Christ, walking in purity in every context. Please pray for me in that regard. Intellectually, I am enjoying this season of study. For our church, I was able to lay out our sermon topics between now and Thanksgiving. On Sunday, July 13, we will launch a new series, “Christ is Enough” from the book of Colossians. In addition to Dostoevsky, I am reading a wide spectrum of books, ranging from political philosophy to literature to theology, from authors like N. T. Wright, Anne Lamott, John Steinbeck, George Orwell and Michael Oakeshott. I know that I will not finish all of these books, but I will return stretched by some new (and old) friends. Thank you for your gracious support and prayer during this study leave. As my wife and I were discussing churches to want to visit this Sunday, I realized that there is no church body that I’d rather attend and serve than this one. What a joy to be one family in Christ!
