This 40’ double-sheathed wood reefer with vertical brake wheel is brown with grey sides and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in the late 1920s, this car was decorated in 1934 for the Nash-Underwood Food Products Company of Chicago, and owned by North Western Refrigerator Line. Nash-Underwood was one of the largest mustard manufacturers in the 1930s.

This 50’ standard box car with 8’ plug door, no roofwalk and short ladders is grey with black lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. This insulated boxcar belonged to a series of 100 cars built by National Steel Car in 1965, of which five cars were rebuilt and upgraded in 1981. The five cars received SuperTherm enhanced insulation and were renumbered.

These 56’ general service tank cars are black with white lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1981 by Trinity for ATSF, this DOT 111A100W1 tank car is used primarily to ship diesel fuel and other fuel commodities. Belonging to a 150-car series, they were later merged into BNSF in the mid-1990s and repainted.

This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is pullman green with gold lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Established in 1853, New York Central operated nearly 27,000 miles of track throughout the Great Lakes region at the height of its operations. The railroad ran many famous passenger trains such as the 20th Central Limited and the Empire State Express.

This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is aluminum with black lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in the early 1940s, Knickerbocker was originally painted silver, before receiving Pullman green paint in the mid-1940s. In the late 1940s, it was repainted into a “shadow line” scheme to resemble the corrugated body sides of other cars on the roster.

Originally built in 1941, it was rebuilt into a X44B class boxcar in the 1960s and was used for general service. PRR was one of the largest Class 1 railroads until the 1968 merger with NYC to form Penn Central.

This 40’ standard box car with single door and no roofwalk is green with yellow lettering and runs on Betten-dorf trucks. Built in the late 1940s and painted box car red, it was rebuilt in 1974 and repainted dark green. It was part of the advertisement in promotion of the “Take Stock in America” campaign, receiving the “Savings Bonds and Freedom” herald prior to the 1976 bicentennial.

This 4427 cubic-foot capacity covered hopper was built in 1968 by Pullman, and was painted in the D&RGW “Action Road” paint scheme. Belonging to a 150-car series, these cars were often used to carry grain.

Built by Thrall for Burlington Northern in 1975, this bulkhead flat was obtained by BNSF in the merger of 1995, and repainted. With a 263,000-pound gross rail load, it is often used in the shipment of struc-tural commodities such as steel pipes.

In 1991, Union Pacific painted this SD40-2 into a one-of-a-kind camouflage scheme to pay tribute to Union Pacific employees serving in the Persian Gulf War. UP 3593 was dedicated shortly before the end of the war, giving the locomotive the nickname “Desert Victory.”
