Mr. Derek Strohman - 5th Grade - Email: [email protected] - Phone: (402) 289-3433 FROM THE DESK OF MR. STROHMAN Dear Families, This was a great week. We had a lot going on! We started our Keyboarding class in the Media Center with Ms. Rouse. This is where the students will work with Ms. Rouse everyday for 45 minutes working on their keyboarding skills through a program called “Type to Learn”. The kids seem to like doing this so far. The rotations or transitions between all of the 5 th grade classes seem to be going better. It seems to be more of a routine now. I really enjoy being able to meet and interact with all of the classes. I told the classes that it was one of my goals to know ALL of their names this week. I quizzed myself by trying to say their name on their way out of my classroom and I got all of them correct! Even though I had kids switching sweatshirts and glasses to try and fool me! Tricky little Kifth graders! [email protected] 402-289-3433 We finished our first Unit in Math and took our first test today. This math series starts off with some tough math. Please make sure that you tell them you are proud of them for their efforts. I will give them a chance to redo or make corrections on their tests. I believe at this age it is important to give kids a chance to learn it. Sometimes it may take some kids longer but everyone deserves a chance to get it if THEY want to. We took our tests today and so when they get their math test back please encourage them to fix their mistakes and bring it back in to Mr. Strohman to earn some points back. They can earn half of the points back if they redo one and get it correct. What Happened In Math This Week? MR.
