These volunteers were comprised primarily of Danvers High School National Honor students, Danvers schoolteachers, and a few fantastic residents. (Please see page 5 for a photo tribute to our volunteers). Now, as we prepare for the Fall and students return to school, we are working diligently on bringing our van drivers back to provide much- needed transportation services. There are many guidelines to which we need to adhere to ensure the safety and well being of all our passengers and staff. Please know we are doing everything in our power to get this done as soon and safely as possible! Our next priority is to bring back our Social Seniors Adult Day Program. We want to transition them back into the senior center, first, before we open our doors to the general public. We are hoping that once we see the schools succeed, it will be safe for us to work towards a full reopening. Although you may not see us, be assured we are all here working to serve your needs. Our staff is in the office and available to meet with you by phone or otherwise if necessary. Please continue to stay safe, strong and healthy. ACTIVITIES

Virtual Bingo has begun! Every Friday morning from 10 to 11:30 AM. We will make arrangements to get you the cards/chips (if needed). The “video

conference” program we plan to use has the capability of you calling in from your landline and listening just over the phone if you don’t have online

access, as well as joining the meeting from your smart phone, tablet or computer to see us on video. If you would like to participate, please email Paula at [email protected] so she can capture your email address

to invite you to the Bingo or call and leave her a voicemail at 978 762-0208 x104 with your phone number so she can contact you with the simple instructions to use on your landline.

Have you acquired the “Quarantine Fifteen” and need to lose a pound or two? Or do you just need to get out and take a walk and see some familiar people? Join Paula starting Monday, August 31st at 9 AM to walk the path at the Highlands School. You can walk at your own pace.

It does not matter how far you walk. We will meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9 AM weather permitting. Come whenever you are available, we would love to see you. Please

remember to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. Virtual Classes:

Have RMV Business? Save time and go online

The Massachusetts RMV continues offering more ways for business partners and the general public to conduct

business and reduce in-person customer visits in service centers throughout the Commonwealth.

Expanding Online Services for Partners and Residents The RMV recently expanded the selection of online services that business partners and residents can conduct

from the convenience of their homes and offices.

Massachusetts Residents:

myRMV is a one-stop portal allowing residents an easy and efficient way to process multiple transactions and

services including renewing registrations, requesting a title, renewing or replacing a license or an ID, applying for

a learner's permit, updating contact information, and making payments.

Using myRMV is easy and available all the time, wherever you are:

• Go to the RMV's Online Service Center and choose the service you need

• Complete the verification page by entering your date of birth, last four digits of your social security number,

and your driver's license/ID number

• Enter the verification code you receive via text message, email, or through a third-party app to verify your

identity

• Follow the necessary steps and complete your transaction

Save Time and Schedule a Reservation

Residents can use myRMV to schedule a reservation for a transaction they cannot complete online, by phone, or by

mail. Visit the RMV Service Center to find the most convenient locations, hours, and additional information.

New Registration Drop off Centers (formerly B2B Centers)

The RMV recently expanded Registration Drop-Off Centers to include both businesses and individuals. There are

seven drop-off centers: Braintree, Chicopee, Haymarket (Boston), Haverhill, Milford, Taunton, and Wilmington.

The RMV's announcement explains the new process, forms, and available transactions.

Expired driver's license or ID card? RMV announces extension to free REAL ID upgrade

All eligible customers who renew their standard Massachusetts driver’s license or Massachusetts ID card online

at Mass.Gov/RMV before the end of the state of emergency (extended from Aug.12), qualify for a free

upgrade to a REAL ID credential up to one year in advance of the expiration date printed on their license or ID,

or up to two years after the expiration date.

Massachusetts' recent announcement about the free REAL ID upgrade also explains additional extensions

about vehicle registrations and junior operator's supervised driving hours to keep customers safe and save them

time without having to visit a service center.

Increasing Fiber in Your Diet Can Improve Your Health

Fiber has an important role in digestive health. It can be found in foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts or seeds. Eating a diet with enough fiber can

prevent disease (like cancer and diabetes) from developing. Fiber can also maintain bowel regularity and get rid of constipation. Adding fiber to your diet may also help you maintain a healthy weight.

TIPS:

• Eat a variety of fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables each day

• Drink PLENTY of fluids to keep your digestive system running smoothly. Set a goal of at

least 8 cups per day.

• Choose whole-grain bread, crackers, and pasta.

• Add small amounts of wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, or rice bran to foods you cook.

Top casseroles with wheat germ or wheat bran.

• Add beans, peas, and lentils to soups, stews, and salads.

• Eat fruit and vegetable skins/peels. Scrub vegetables and fruits well before eating.

• Add grated vegetables to meatloaf, meat patties, casseroles, and sauces.

• Used pureed vegetables instead of cream to thicken soups.

• Eat fresh or canned fruit in place of fruit juice.

• Have 1-3 servings of fruits and vegetables at each meal.

• Quickly steam fruits and vegetables so that they remain colorful and crunchy. This

technique can enhance or preserve nutrients in your food.

• When baking, choose recipes that use whole grain flour instead of white flour. Many

recipes that use white flour can be baked with half the amount of whole wheat flour.

• Try brown rice. Brown rice and many other whole grains contain more fiber than white

rice. Taste difference tends to be minimal.

• Add raisins, grated carrots, chopped apple, or diced pear to salads, cereal, bread recipes,

or muffin recipes.

• Use beans, wheat germ, oats, or wheat bran to replace some of the meat in recipes such

as meatloaf or lasagna.

Add a variety of grains to soups. Try barley, brown rice, or whole wheat pasta.
