The students are settling into a routine of learning, achieving and continuing to make Crestmont a great place to learn. The following are tips for students to stay safe before and after school (please review with your stu-dent(s):
1. It is safest to walk to and from school and other places with a friend or group of friends. 2. Check in with your parents often. Always ask them before going to a friend's house, the park or the store. 3. When you walk or bike around, do not wear your headphones, look around at the cars and people around you. 4. Do not be distracted by your friends, your I-Pod or your phone. 5. If a car and driver you do not know pulls up next to you, do not go up to the car or truck. If a stranger tries to get you to come over and talk to them, do not. You should walk or run away and tell your parent or another trusted adult right away. 6. Never accept rides from strangers. If someone you know offers you a ride, call your mom or dad first and ask if it's okay. 7. Do not go up to strangers, even if they offer you candy or they have a cute pet. Sometimes bad people use such things to attract kids. 8. Please enter and exit the school from the front of the campus. The staff supervision is out-standing in the front of the school and if you want to avoid the crowd arrive here at 3:10 pm when most cars are gone. 9. You can also park on Knollcrest or Champion Oaks and walk onto campus. There are only a few cars that park on these side streets.
10. Discourage your children from walking through the back gate unless you plan to meet them there as there is no supervision at that gate. 11. Please do not park where there is not a parking spot. 12. The entrance to the school where the crossing guard is cannot be blocked. 13. Please do not park in the crosswalk. Mrs. Wade will be present at 3:00 pm to make sure students cross the street safely. She will motion you to come into the school parking lot when she is ready so please be patient. I can be reached at 771-1750 during school hours or email me at: [email protected] if you have a concern that you want to express.

Fall Picture Day—Fri., Sept. 23rd Volunteer photos can be taken before school at 8:15 a.m. on the Multi-Purpose room stage.

Medication at School Medication can be given only if the parent or guardian provides written permission and directions from the physician. This applies to over the counter medications (such as Tylenol or cough medicine) as well as pre-scription medications. An authorization form is available in the office and must be completed by the parent
and physician. A new form is required for each new school year.
* IMPORTANT REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE * Student Absences—When your child is absent, please call the school office at 771-1750, press 1 and leave a message. You can call 24 hours a day. If absences are not verified they will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused ab-sences, you will receive a truancy letter.
Attendance—Daily attendance is extremely important and we want to work with families to ensure that all children are in school on a regular basis. California Education Code requires parents to see that children are at school on time and maintain regular attendance. Per California State law and District Policy, Crestmont School will be enforcing the SARB (School Attendance Review Board) process for truancy. Should a child have three unexcused absences and /or three tardies in excess of 30 minutes, parents will receive a truancy letter. The only reasons accepted for an excused ab-sence are illness, medical/dental appointments and funeral of an immediate family member. Please do not pick your child up early unless it is absolutely necessary. Early unexcused pick-ups will also be tracked and this too can result in truancy letters. Please try to make appointments before or after school hours.
Campus Supervision Hours—Students are supervised on the school campus from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Students should not arrive on the campus earlier or stay later unless they are a part of a supervised school activity. Please note that there is NO staff supervision of Kindergarten and TK students prior to the start of class.
School Lunches– Don’t be left without lunch money. Check balances and make payments online at www.EZSchoolpay.com A $2.00 fee per payment transaction applies. There is no fee to set up an account to view balances. You may also pay with cash or check in the school office. Lunch at all grade levels are $3.00 and breakfast is $1.25.
School Breakfast—Breakfast is now being served at 8:10, not 8:00.
Classroom Interruptions—It is our goal to reduce the number of interruptions to the instruction program, and there-fore, increase the amount of time on task for students. You, as parents, can assist us in this by:
Knowing messages will not be delivered to the classroom, except in an emergency. They will be e-mailed and/or placed in the teacher’s box.
Not going to the classroom during instructional time to talk to the teacher.
Lunches, homework, etc., will not be delivered to the classroom. They may be left in the office. Please be sure to tell your child to check in the office if they need any of these items. It is their responsibility, not the office staff.
Balloons, flowers and other gifts for students may not be received in the classroom.
Classroom Celebration Treats—In order to help guide our students to healthy eating habits our school will be following the Districts guidelines for Classroom treats for celebrations. Instead of cupcakes, cookies and sweets, examples of healthy treats would be fruit, string cheese, graham crackers, gold fish, Go-gurts, etc.. Or alternative treats could be birthday pencils, erasers, etc.
Family Math Night— Tues., Sept. 20th 6:00—7:00pm in MPR
Please come join us for a free night of Mathematics.
Have fun and learn more about our California State Standards with your child.

2016/2017 School Year ~ September Edition
Crestmont families,
We would like to welcome everyone to the start of the 2016-
2017 school year. One of our main goals this year is to raise
funds for a sunshade over the play structure. As part of the
Crestmont community you are automatically enrolled as a
member of the PTC. The PTC is here to promote the health,
education, and welfare of all children. We are dedicated to
giving all children every opportunity to enhance their
educational experience at Crestmont.
We appreciate the support from the parents, teachers and
staff. There are many opportunities to get involved and help
at Crestmont and we are always looking for new volunteers.
We hope to see you at the monthly PTC meetings where child
care is provided. We love to hear ideas and suggestions. We
are only successful with your help.
For all of you social media members, please like us on
Facebook. We will update our page with important
information throughout the year.
Feel free to contact me at [email protected]
I look forward to working together in the upcoming year.
