Fall Arrives – Memphis Football! Thanks to All Who Made the Summit So Great! AND THE WORLD SERIES OF HOUSEKEEPING IS SEPTEMBER 21!

If you missed this year’s Summit, shame on you! Our many sponsors, the auctioneer, the donators of goods and services for the auction items, and last but most certainly not least—the Summit Planning Committee all contributed to the success of this year’s Summit! The members of the committee start a year in advance, and

work countless hours planning, organiz-ing, and facilitating the Summit. So a great big thank you to everyone who shared in the planning and execution of our 13th An-nual Southern Lodging Summit @ Mem-phis. Please give all involved a pat on the back for a great job accomplished! I am so proud of our Association for producing an event of this caliber!!

Can you believe that the kids are back in school and that the Delta Fair is here? I can not believe that August is gone! It seems it was just yesterday we started

planning for Elvis Week when, actually it was last year! We will soon be having cooler temperatures, beauti-ful autumn colors, football, fall festivals, yard sales, pumpkins, turkeys, and oh my gosh, I forgot my Grizzlies!! Anyone who knows very much about me knows that I am a Grizzlies Fan!

We have so much to be thankful for in Memphis Hospitality. I rate us right at the top for things to do! Kevin and his team have a wonderful venue to sell to our guests!! Are you a Memphis cheerleader? Why not? You should be. Too often all we want to do is complain. If you are not a part of the solution—you are a part of the problem!! And in hospitality, we must be problem solvers. We analyze, prioritize and create solutions to finally find the resolution of many, many, incidents on a daily basis—and all in a day’s work. So smile—YOU ARE Memphis’ top cheerleader—everyday as you greet your guests.

National Housekeeping Week is September 13 thru 19. This is the time to show appre-ciation to the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance professionals who keep your facility running clean and ef-ficient. If you do not believe that these are the hardest and most physically demanding

positions in your hotel, I challenge each of you to walk in the shoes of a room atten-dant for one day.

Normally, we honor our Housekeeping Staff with the World Series of Housekeep-ing in November, but last year the board elected to move that World Series to Sep-tember to be more in sync with National Housekeeping Week.

This year the World Series of House-keeping will be September 21 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.

The event starts at noon (with lunch) and there are 17 teams already regis-tered. If you have not registered yet, it is not too late.

Send Deanna that email now! and join us for a fun filled afternoon honoring all of our Housekeepers!

Till next month, same time, same place……
