GCW and Summer trip to Maekok River Village – Language and Emotion

WWW Marine Biology – Perception and Reason

Maekok River Village

Went on this trip to build a school and teach the kids English

Gave the kids an opportunity to learn English from English speaking students

Went to twice, once over GCW and once over summer with a group of friends

Why did I choose this? Language – Not everyone on this

trip is Thai, creating a language barrier between the two

Emotion – A bond with the children was created which is why we came back the second time

What does this say about me? Language – Increasing my

communication skills and cultural awareness

Emotion – The feeling of being bonded with the kids wanting to give the opportunity again.

WWW Marine Biology

Went to the similans to do community service and dive

The community service we did was picking up trash from the bottom of the ocean

Became an advanced diver and learnt more about the environment under water

Why did I choose this? Language: Again, there was a language barrier due to the

fact that you were under water and communication using speech is impossible

Perception: Students perception of the ocean and the teacher is different. Why does this say about me?

Language: Enhances my knowledge on language. Perception: Learnt to navigate underwater increasing my

underwater navigating skills.
