My husband and I both need support. Will we need to pay the servicecharge twice? There will be a small additional charge
if two people live in the apartment.
For more information about charges
please refer to our Key Facts booklet.
Can I bring my pet?We will make this decision on an
individual basis but will expect tenants
to care for their own pets.
What happens if I run out of money? Before you apply for an apartment, we
advise that you speak to an independent
financial advisor to help you understand
the full financial implications, (please see
page 17 for a list of organisations).
Jewish Care expects you to continue to
meet your financial obligations while
living at Selig Court and we reserve the
right to end your tenancy if you are
unable to do this.
If your circumstances do change, then we
will help you identify your options before
any action is taken.
Can I still live in my apartment if myhealth deteriorates? We will always try to make it possible for
you to live in your apartment, although we
cannot provide 24 hour care to individual
tenants. We have many links with other
care organisations and together with you
and your family, we will work out how to
provide the right support for you in your
home, wherever possible.
Jewish Care has a dementia care home on
the Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus,
which can be accessed if required.
Your questions answered
What happens if a tenant isbecoming a nuisance? All tenants must adhere to their tenancy
agreement, which includes a code of
conduct.
If any problems do occur, Jewish Care will
ask tenants (or guests) to modify their
actions, in keeping with their agreement.
As a very final resort, Jewish Care reserves
the right to ask tenants to leave if their
behaviour continues to cause a
significant nuisance to other people.
Who can live with me?It is up to you who you would like to live
with you, although the main leaseholder
must meet the eligibility criteria (as set
out on page 12). When, or if, the main
leaseholder leaves the apartment, any
other tenant in the apartment must also
meet the eligibility criteria. If they do not
meet the criteria then Jewish Care
reserves the right to ask them to leave.
Can I have my own private carer?Yes you can, although utilising the on-site
care and support will ensure that staff at
Selig Court can offer a holistic approach
to your needs and wellbeing. People who
have moved to Selig Court have made
the successful transition from private
carers in the community to using our
experienced care staff to support them.
This coordinated approach ensures that
the full benefits of living at Selig Court
can be enjoyed by all our tenants. If you
do use your own carer, then you will
still have to pay the full service and
support charge.
