Preface

Knowledge and innovation are twin agents of development in this cyber age, nationally and

globally as well. Education, if holistic, inclusive, value-based, affordable to and accessible by all, can

bring economic prosperity to the vast majority of under-privileged society. Thus, it becomes the most

important tool for equitable socio-economic development and empowerment of weaker sections and

women in developing economical welfare conditions. In this respect, NAAC accreditation of higher

education institutes in India boosts a holistic and result oriented approach and has led to a positive

attitudinal change among all stakeholders in Higher Education. We perceive the role of NAAC as an

agency of quality enhancement in higher education with a vision to set benchmarks in universities

located in rural and tribal areas, which struggle to keep pace with metropolitan centers.

The Self-Study Report (SSR) of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon contains three parts

namely Part-I: Post Accreditation Initiatives, Executive Summary, SWOC Analysis and Profile of

the University, Part-II: Criteria-wise Inputs and Part-III: Evaluative Report of the Schools/Institute/

Satellite Centers. These SSRs have been prepared, reviewed and finalized by NAAC Steering

committee duly constituted for the Cycle-III reaccreditation. The final and formal presentation of the

SSRs have been made to the Directors/Heads of all Schools/Institute/Departments and senior

administrators before uploading of three volumes on University website, so that finer touches

regarding the accomplishments of the University are not missed out and the data was clear, concise

and complete. The SSR reflects the overall efforts and quality initiatives pursued by the University in

many aspects of higher education like – teaching, learning, evaluation, research and extension.

The North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon offers a blend of modern, applied, job oriented

and conventional courses complimented with the state-of-the-art research facilities, supporting

infrastructure and stimulating environment for learning and training. We strongly believe that

research without social justice is incomplete and, therefore, special efforts are being made by this

university to channelize our entire time, energy and resources to make research activities on the

campus more meaningful. By establishing vital links between our university Schools and Industries

over the Globe, we nurture a climate of research, teaching-learning, student’s development, value

education, community outreach, industry linkages and collaborations through various ambitious

programmes such as Lab to Land, Lab to Industry, and Local to Global (tie-up with reputed

overseas Universities/ Institutes). The emphasis is to create global citizens who will contribute

significantly towards an edifying future of sustainable socio-economic inclusive development of

society. Five Schools and one Institute are recognized under UGC-SAP Programme and four Schools

and one Institute are covered under DST-FIST Programme. One Institute has been covered under

TEQIP programme of MHRD, Govt. of India and World Bank. The reputed national weekly ‘India

Today’ has conducted a country-wide survey through Nelson Research and Consultancy Company

and ranked North Maharashtra University at 40th

among 620 universities in India and first position in

Maharashtra State based on factual data. Reputed “Careers360’s” Magazine has recently published

the list of top 100 Universities in India, wherein the North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon has been

rated at 27th

position and 1st position in the Universities of Maharashtra State.

In short, the University is well set for the Third Cycle Accreditation by NAAC. In view of

this, it is our pleasure to submit our Self Study Report (SSR) to the NAAC, Bangalore. I look

forward to receive the NAAC Peer Team at our University.
