    Success Conscious

What is wrong with looking after ourselves? What is wrong with being good to ourselves?People perceive this as being selfish. Contrary to what they think, it's being responsible. Weshouldn't expect others to take care of us. This is our responsibility. When we treat ourselves

well, we tend to be more confident, positive, and self assured. - Carlo R. Cartledge "In his ownwords"

Victor Commandment SC1Partake in true pleasure; this involves doing things in moderation; reading, studying, andintrospection, nothing at all does it have to do with partaking in any sensual indulgences.

Victor Commandment SC2One must make a commitment to completely cut out anything that is a hindrance in getting one'smind, body, and soul on one accord.

    Victor Commandment SC3Know thyself

Victor Commandment SC4A great thinker must be ready to doubt everything that he believes.

Victor Commandment SC5Free expression guides the learning process; the spontaneous nature of young students must bepromoted, not prevented.

    Victor Commandment SC6

A true master never does anything in vain; always move with purpose, and perpetually focus ontasks that ultimately move him in the direction of one's goals.

Victor Commandment SC7A student of mastery never buys into the human inclination of blaming others for their problems.

Victor Commandment SC8Promote and pursue passion and excellence; for a Master finds it fitting to challenge and rebelindifference.

When we are in align with our values, we reach clarity, manifest love, and dwell in the presence

Success Conscious: Becoming a conscious creator Success consciousness is a key component in creating successful situations, just as having amillionaire mindset is a key component in building a lifetime of wealth and success. If you startto think, act, and make better decisions, you will soon find yourself becoming who you believeyourself to be. You will have more when you become more confident. Always focus on

expanding your influence and taking action in the present. Approach every situation with a plan.Always sit down and map out your plan. A wise man stated that if it takes one hour to chopdown a tree then, spend 40 minutes sharpening your axe.

Have you ever heard the phrase that the quality of your life is the quality of yourcommunication? This simply means that the words we choose affect the way we communicate toourselves, therefore what we experience. The words that we attach to our experiences becomeour experience. Consciously choose that appropriate word to describe your emotional statebecause words alter one's perception and feelings.

    Transactional Analysis: A conscious approach

Transactional analysis is a rational approach to understanding behavior and is based on theassumption that any individual can learn to trust himself, think for himself, make his owndecisions and express his feelings freely. A person who is not aware of how he behaves or howhe feels is impoverished; he lacks confidence in his decision making because he fluctuatesbetween his conflicting inner forces. He has alienated parts of himself. His intellect, emotions, and creativeness are all at odds. A Master continues to discover that he can rely more and moreon his own capacities for sensing and making judgments. He continues to discover and renewhimself. Life consists not in getting more but in being more.

A man who can intelligently direct his energies and manipulate his thoughts to fruitful issues is aconscious master. This is accomplished by performing self analysis, learning from experience

and daily application. Observe your everyday experiences even the most trivial everydayoccurrences, for they provide powerful and profound knowledge of ones self. Think of yourmind as a garden; will you carefully cultivate it or let it run wild? Whatsoever you choose thereis a certainty; these processes will absolutely expedite your maturation process.

Self sufficiency: A responsive approachBecoming self-sufficient can mean different things to different people and can be done todifferent degrees. To me, it means not relying on others for things that you can do yourself. Wecan grow to be self-sufficient by using our own physical and mental skills to produce food, shelter and wealth in order to create one's own existence. Self sufficiency suggests a kind of rugged independence associated with mastering a new and rather hostile environment. It requiresa ton of self-discipline and a determination not found in most people, especially in today'ssociety where over the years we have grown accustom to depending upon others to provide forour basic needs and emotional state. In my opinion, pursuing this type of lifestyle is characterbuilding.

On must live without being dependent upon the opinion of others. Bruce Lee, a profoundphilosopher in his own right explained, if one is completely self-sufficient, rejection will notaffect his disposition, and the possibility of not being esteem will not be fearful. A promisingdisciple devotes himself to being self-sufficient and never depends upon the external rating by

others for his happiness. A master, unlike the beginner holds himself in reserve; he is quiet andunassuming. Being a master he suppresses the urge to show off. Under the proper guidance andtraining his proficiency becomes spiritual, and through his spiritual struggles he is uninhibitedthus being prepared for transformation. He is evolving as a human being. Fame and status meansnothing to a true master. It takes time and discipline to reach this level of confidence, yet whenreached is extremely liberating. Self cultivation is the essence of self sufficiency; one mustcontinually strive to develop mentally, spiritually, and physically.

ResponsibilityTake care of yourself; don't depend on no one-else. It is your responsibility to recognize andacknowledge your unique abilities. Should we really expect others to acknowledge something we

neglect? Never discount your ability or worth. You deserve the best; therefore pursue the best.Engaging in anything less undermines your credibility entirely. You are royalty; therefore think as such, discounting your birthright for a single meal leaves you with nothing after you haveeaten.

Do what you love instead of what people have for you to do. Consider having your ownbusiness. It does not have to be anything major; just have as a means to another income string. Now is the perfect time to start a business because there is a scarcity of jobs. The internet is agreat starting point because it has a global presence. There are lots of ways to make money onthe internet these days; research what might work for you. The goal is to find a way to makemoney; for this is your responsibility. We must learn how to become more self sufficient in this

economic crisis. Total self sufficiency must be our ultimate goal. Self reliance must be yourmind set; learn how to do everything yourself, or know who to call. To get you started in theright direction, consider these action steps:

1.) Asses your skills; if your skills are out-dated, then take classes at a local college or university. You must keep you skills and qualifications current.2.) Do some research; go online or to the library to assess your competition and build yourbusiness module. You do not have to recreate the wheel; follow their already successfulblueprint.3.) Begin to network. There are always people out there who are doing what you would like to door know someone who can point you in the right direction.4.) Allow yourself to be great. Do not place any limits on yourself. You were placed here on thisplanet to manifest your greatness.

3 Feel-good factorsBecome aware of your feelings. Listen to your body. Your body communicates information asyour mind processes your feelings; therefore, pay attention to what your feelings arecommunicating to you. What we see, what we hear, and what we do, all effect what we learn andthink about the majority of the day. Simply put, we can only think about what we know, and only

evaluate things in terms of our values and experiences. Our consciousness must be dominated byseeing, hearing, and experiencing things that are of virtue and integrity.

Treat your body wellAfter all, you only get one. This means, eat nourishing foods, get plenty of rest, exerciseregularly, visit your doctor annually and get any diagnostic tests completed on a timely basis. Inaddition, get plenty of sleep. Sleep is often underrated. Getting the right amount of sleep isimportant to rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit. It allows for increased creativity andmaximum energy. Different people require different amounts of sleep. Know how much sleepyou require to be at your best and be sure to get that amount of sleep each night.

Find time to quiet your mind Find a way to quiet your mind for a period of time every day. 15 minutes a day is a good start.Shutting off your mind-chatter allows for greater expression of creativity and intuition.Furthermore, be careful what you feed your mind; be it conversations, books, people, magazines,or TV shows because everything your mind absorbs impacts you in some way.

Take pride in your appearanceThe way your wear your hair, the condition of your nails, the presence of facial hair, the amountand type of jewelry you wear, all make a difference in how you feel about yourself and what youcommunicate to others. It is absolutely essential that you dress impeccably. Image is everything.Even on dress-down-days and weekends, look your best. Your attire communicates how you feel

about yourself as a leader. Dressing sharp makes you feel greatso feel great everyday. Spiritual FoundationYahweh is the creator of life and has given us the individual the necessary tools to create ourown values and destiny. He has given us free will to make our own decision and forge our owndestiny. As a student of Mastery you must become rooted and grounded in the Word. Hold fastto your belief, and center your life around it. Your spiritual belief is what gives your lifesubstance.

True worship is an internal experience. The individual can have a direct experience with Godthrough prayer, meditation and praise. True religion is a direct relationship between God and theindividual. The middleman does not mediate it. When we live our life according to the principlesof our faith then will we begin to unlock the mysteries of the scriptures. I cannot live my lifeaccording to his or her morality. In the end God is not going to judge me based upon how well Imodeled my spiritual leaders life. I am going to be judged based upon my own value system.

    Success Conscious 2.1 (Advanced level)

We often picture an activity in our mind before we undertake it. Our imagination can be either helpful or discouraging when it begins to anticipate a course of action. It is a force that can

encourage or defeat us. -Michael Murphy & Rhea White; The Psychic Side of Sports

Research has shown that visualizing a successful outcome of a scenario can dramaticallyimprove one's performance; especially if the mental picture is supplemented with physicalpractice. In essence, peak performers are those who practice both mental and physicaltechniques. They are good at both mental and physical self control. Now less explore the mentalmore precisely.

Natural self (Subconscious function) The natural self represents our body and emotions. The natural self experiences and informs usof pain, satisfaction, fatigue, pleasure, sexual desire, and fears. The natural self goal is to learn,

and by repetition develops habits which become automatic in similar circumstances. In addition, the natural self tends to like rituals or routines that allow it to flow into its habitual patterns. Wecan consciously teach and program the natural self to cooperate with our objectives. The naturalself aim is to serve. Like a child the natural self may be taught how to behave properly in varioussituations. The process of Mastery is learning how to discipline the natural self so that we canexperience a successful synchronization between our lives of awareness. Within this realm of harmony each can cooperate in achieving our goals.

Ego self (Conscious function) Self discipline and self awareness managed by the conscious self enable us to develop freely. The conscious self will learn from the natural self just as a good teacher learns from students

about how to teach them. The natural self will seek to be secure and comfortable. Under thedirection from the conscious self, the natural self will work, exercise, and perform. As the habitsof the natural self unconsciously take over in routine situations the conscious self is able to focuson other things. The conscious self is constantly learning by making choices and experiencingthe consequences. The conscious self communicates directly with others by language andobservation while the natural self interact in more subconscious ways. Knowing oneself meansthe conscious self is becoming more aware of one's human characteristics. The conscious self gains knowledge about oneself by paying attention to what one is doing. By increasing self knowledge, the conscious self knows better how one may act most effectively because of one'spersonal abilities and situation.

Inner self (Spiritual function) Spiritual self is one's connection to Yahweh or the source and one's belief system. The spiritualself realizes that one has a power that is much greater than what we use every day. We are oftenlead by our conscious self or ego; yet the spiritual self compel us to be lead by Yahweh. We are

one with him consequently realizing our real value. One understands that God is omnipotent; Heis the greatest force in the universe, thus making us very powerful because we have this Higherpower within us.

The spiritual self allows us to enter into a higher level of existence. We view life through verydifferent lenses. Experiences appear to entail more richness, with less effort or drama. To realizeone's spiritual self, one must surrender by giving up all subjective feelings and individuality. There must be absolute acceptance. When ulterior motives and conscious effort yield to a powernot of his own, he has achieved the ultimate; Enlightenment.

I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I but it is Christ that lives within me. -

    Apostle Paul; Galatians 2:20

EnlightenmentEnlightenment is an awakening of the soul or inner man. It is what I call spiritual awareness. It isnot something that can be learned like a science through research or instruction by way of facts. It is more of an art; growth has to be continuous like time, in a mind that is free from desires andemotions. Enlightenment essentials derive from the principles of self awareness which I call "theexpansion of life." To obtain enlightenment one must incorporate and respect the concepts of leadership, mastery, self expression and consciousness. Of course all the concepts presented arenot needed to reach that truthful place; some can be omitted, but all are relevant. A true masterwill take that which is essential and develop their own system because no one knows one's total

being as well as himself.Being in a state of enlightenment may affect people differently depending on the arena one maybe working in. For example, Michael Jordan describes the experience as; "I felt that I couldn'tmiss, the basket looked like a huge bucket that got bigger and bigger." I remember being atchurch and the Spirit of God was extremely high this particular Sunday. My Pastor had "gone in"and began glowing. Mohammed Ali seemed to have telepathic abilities, being able to avoid hisopponents punches at will. It was like he knew their every move. Moments of enlightenment hasbeing described as the following:

A strange feeling of calmnessA type of euphoriaExtreme confidenceA strange feeling of invisibility

Being in a tranceBeing able to see oneself from the outside during a performanceBeing able to levitate

I tell you that no man can experience this birth of God in the soul without a mighty effort. No onecan attain this birth unless he can withdraw his mind entirely from things. -Saint Francis DeSales

To enter into a state of enlightenment is to transcend the human mind. One enters a state of pureexistence, pure awareness, pure attention and pure being. As an Enlighten Soul one canexperience reality as such, without translator, without thoughts, in absolute silence. To continue

down the right path to enlightenment, self awareness must persist daily through a mental andspiritual washing, to make the mind not only responsive but free. To accomplish this, the disciplehas to practice being calm and quiet by mastering the principle of what I call non-attentiveness .Non-attentiveness acts as a balm to a mind that is constantly being bombarded by thoughts andemotions. Non-attentiveness is not keeping the mind quiet and calm; although quietude andcalmness are essenti al, the key is to not entertain your thoughts . Picture your mind as being aneco-system and your thoughts are the wind. Allow your thoughts to flow like the wind. The windworks its unlimited power because it is free and open to everything since it is empty. A discipleof mastery applies his mind as a reflective surface; it receives but does not keep.

Bruce Lee, the greatest martial artist of all times used the term no-mindness in describing the

principle. Bruce Lee states; "no-mindness means letting the mind think what it likes withoutinterference by the separate thinker or ego within oneself." What he is saying is let your mindwonder freely, barring conscious effort from you, the independent thinker.

Manipulating your energyExpending energy can generate higher levels of force. One trusts blindly that by steadfastpractice and perseverance that their untapped reserves will eventually be mobilized. This is theWestern cultures perception of energy; however Eastern cultures have specific methods formobilizing energy and uniting mind and body. The concept of energy is basic to them.1st stageof energy is the most relevant. This entails coordination and centralization of energy. The 2ndstage is the influence of energy. It extends beyond the individual and touches others. The 3rd andfinal stage is rarely tapped; the disciple is placed with the center of life itself. The disciple isanointed with a resonance that knows no bounds. All techniques for developing energy have thesame goal which is to unite the mind, body, and soul. The many methods for developing energydiffer in some respects, most include 5 major elements: Breathing, Meditation, Concentration,Rhythm, & Emptying the mind of thought.

BreathingBreathing is the foundation from which the other methods will build upon. In yoga, the breath isknown as prana or a universal energy that can be used to find a balance between the body andmind in addition to the conscious and unconscious. Breathing is used as a therapeutic method to

change subtle energies within the body for health and one's well being. Breathing plays anessential role in developing this inner energy. The disciple must practice on a regular basis deepor abnormal breathing techniques. In stressful or emotional filled situations take several deepbreaths to collect your bearings and get centered. Deep, relaxed breathing promotes calmnessand helps to induce a trance state. When breathing in, breathe deeply into your stomach, hold thebreath for a few moments, and exhale very slowly. Repeat the process several times. You willnotice an instant sense of increased calmness. Since energy is closely connected with breathing,we can use short, fast rhythmic breaths to increase our energy level. This is similar to the "chest"breathing we do when under stress.

    Meditation

We are energy inside and outside. We are constantly vibrating and sending out waves thatinteract with other waves. Channeling this energy is the key that will unlock the powers of projections and suggestions. One is able to employ these unique abilities by being in a state of serenity or conscious relaxation; some might refer to this as being in a state of meditation. Wecan enter into a meditative state by praying, repetitive activities or a repetition of words orphrases. This is a profound spiritual practice you can enjoy throughout the day, not just whilebeing seated in meditation. Be it getting grounded and cleaning out your aura, relaxing andletting go the drudgery and troubles of your day, or used as a therapeutic solution, there areinfinite ways to engage in meditation. Meditation can also help us to understand our own mind.We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our

mind is peaceful, we will be free from worries and mental discomfort; therefore we are able toexperience true bliss.

ConcentrationConcentration is having the ability to focus the mind barring any distraction. The ability to focusthe mind is one of the most important abilities one should possess. The practice of concentrationenables us to accelerate our growth and learning because it provides us with direct access toknowing and understanding. Developing concentration is similar to developing physical strength. With patience and persistent practice, these techniques will increase the strength and duration of your attention. Adept concentration will positively impact the quality of your life and willenhance conscious maturation as long as you continue to practice the skills.

RhythmRhythm is an innate skill enhanced by habit and a peculiar kind of knowledge that puts a personin the groove or gives that person a mental edge while performing. It starts with your heart, and it penetrates the invisible force of opposition. Rhythm allows you to make instinctive moves

without any reason for them. Tempo and well grooved concentration is so deep that the vesseldoes everything automatically because they are connected to the Source.

Detached state of mind Detachment is an inner state of calmness and being uninvolved on the emotional and mentalplanes. Forget yourself, forget your opponent, forget winning or losing, and when you have doneso, you will be in a state of nothingness. Many have testified that they perform best in a state of detachment; being conscious, but without thought. Be it fear, anger, or pure happiness, it doesnot disturb one's peace of mind. One does not consider if he cannot do or change somethingbecause they are convinced of the importance of some action; therefore they will pursue itwhole-heartedly, and can ignore distractions easily.

I taught myself that an extraordinary spiritual power or soul power lies within a human body.Feats accomplished are more a matter of mind than of muscle. Training the disciple aim is not strengthening his muscles, but by developing in him psychic states that makes theseextraordinary marches possible. More Uyyeshiba; founder of Aikido

NarrativeTheres a truth that states, the more talented and gifted we are in an area, the more dependent webecome on ourselves. Consequently, we begin to stray further away from God. I rememberpreparing for my first huge seminar. I was extremely nerves, and I did not know how it wasgoing to turnout. Therefore, I intentionally went through all the success conscious exercises. I

began the process a month before the event. I prayed, meditated and visualize the desiredoutcome about 3 times a day. Additionally, I even wrote about it in my success journal. I thenincorporated physical practice. I outlined in my notes where I would pause, involve the audience, and placed emphasis on key points. I was thoroughly prepared, and the seminar was a hugesuccess. People were telling how much they enjoyed themselves, the information, and even howgreat I was. The next show was even better. I began thinking I was a supers tar. People couldntwait for the next show.

My third showing did not entail much preparation. By now I was really full of myself. Peoplewould come up to me and tell me how excited they were to be invited. I remember telling themhow they were in for a treat, and how I was going to deliver. I begin preparing like 5 days beforeshow-time, and it really showed in my performance. I was really disappointed in myself. Even if the crowd did not show any disapproval; I consider my performance lack luster.

Visualization and mental practiceFind a comfortable place to sit. Now, focus your breathing by taking 5 deep breaths. On the lastbreath, hold it for 5 seconds and release it slowly through your mouth. Next, picture a scenarioand outcome that you want. Then, focus until you see it clearly. Imagine how you would feel

before, during, and after the outcome. Try to incorporate each of your 5 senses. Pay attention toevery detail and any difficult complication that you might encounter. Repeat the procedure untilthe desired outcome and actions comes natural to you. Next, take the images and feelings andincorporate them into physical practice.

Take a moment to reflect1.) Which conscious awareness is influenced by repetition?2.) Which conscious awareness aim is to serve?3.) How does the conscious self gain knowledge?4.) What is the main goal for developing energy?5.) Describe a scenario where you employed the concepts of enlightenment?

Self Expression: Expanded Awareness Self expression is the subtle art of incorporating the essence of the mind to that of the techniquesin which it has to prevail; therefore, the results you receive are a reflection of your conscious. There is nothing more important than the way that a person relates to himself. Is the quality of

this intra-relationship creative or destructive; growth inducive or repressive? We determine ourlevel of success and what we attract by our perceptions. If we believe that we are unstoppable wewill have no limits. To prevent yourself from being unnecessarily limited by your concepts orthoughts, it is important that you question them. If life seems to be a constant battle and oftentimes you are the victim; then question your way of thinking. If attaining any level of success ishard work or troublesome then assess your thought pattern. We should not have to struggle.Success should come effortless. A master understands which thoughts are helping or hinderinghis/her growth.

Whatever there is in one's mind can be fully and precisely reflected through various actions. It isdue to the process of thinking; thinking creates images in the mind. These images, in turn, will

control feelings like joy or sadness. Such feelings will cause us to engage in actions. Theseactions shall create results; therefore, the mind particularly thinking implies reflection andcreation of results.

God has embedded in us all our own special gifts and talents. We have the capacity to dowhatever we set our minds to do, and the only limitations we have are the ones we place onourselves. As human beings, we were granted the power to control our way of life, speak ourown language, perceive and learn great amounts of knowledge. In addition, we have the power tomanage our emotions, and effectively deal with problems we encounter, all of which is unique tous only. People must learn how to tap into the greatness that they already posses. A great teacherunderstands that the knowledge is already there; the challenge is that the students by habit

habitually fail to express themselves properly. Be it fear, anger, or determination studying theprinciples of self mastery will teach the student to use the power of the mind and emotions asopportunities to achieve greatness.

Excellence on CommandOne must train and program their minds so that excellence is executed on command. To honestlyexpress ones true self, to get to truthful place depends on one's ability to successfully combinewill power, consciousness, creativity, the right emotion, intelligence, and the senses. One mustbe able to sustain focus stretches throughout the day. A wondering mind diminishes ability.

Power of Emotions Emotions are our lifetime companions. We cannot get rid of them. As long as were alive, feelings will be there to accompany our actions or even inactions. Traditional knowledge tells uswe are slaves to our emotions. Emotions make our day. They decide whether we get up in a goodmood in the morning or in good spirits when we get in bed at night. Some people even give theiremotions the authority to mold their destiny. Moreover, there are people who let emotions get thebetter of them all their lives.

Some people become virtual puppets of their moods. They say or act as if they have no otherchoice but to obey what their moods or emotions dictate them to do. When you let your emotionsfail you, your being slowly disintegrates, and your success goes along with it. You have beengiven a choice to take over or be taken over by your emotions. Emotions are made for you, notyou for your emotions. If you choose to, you can always be at your best at all times, emotions

    and all.

Impose your willYour mind can trigger your body to do what it says. Employing the right power of the mind, itbecomes easy to achieve what we want. If we wish to ace an exam, get noticed by the professor,or lose weight in a couple of weeks, and we think that it can really happen, our mind will activatesome power in our body to be responsible in making things happen, our will power. Willing isvery much possible. Many suggest that at times they can actually will things to happen oncommand. To make this happen, one must develop a positive disposition. Have no doubt in yourmind that you are the greatest and winning is second nature. Approach every test and trial with awinning attitude; for you cannot lose. Merely thinking of this happening will cause it to manifest.

Have a clear sense and very strong intention that no matter what, it is bound to materialize. Withintense energy flow, and intense aspiration you can will things to happen. Your attitude shouldbe "I can make things happen just by picturing it in my mind."

Emotions vs. Will powerThe soul is the will, mind, and emotions all rolled into one. Of the two which demonstrates morepower, the will is more inclined to partner with. If the emotions are more powerful than themind, the will easily submits to emotions. If the mind is more powerful, the will submits easily toit also. The will is the determination to achieve an end. It can be propelled or empowered by anemotion or a concept. For example, a soldier has the will to defeat the enemy by loving hiscountry or knowing the benefits of freedom. Though seldom, it can be both. A soldier of a

dictatorship, though he does not know real freedom, will fight to defend the dictatorship becausehe loves his country. The will is in the center of a tug-of-war between the emotion and the mind.To be successful in commanding the emotions, the first job of the mind is to win the full supportof the will. This means you must train yourself to be intellectually willed. When this is achieved, the rest is a piece of cake. Both the will and the emotions will submit to the mind.

Narrative storyI am not being arrogant or trying to sound full of myself when I say that I really do not fearanything. That I am very self sufficient; that I have no fear of any obstacles before me. If Ishould pursue or undertake anything, I have already made up in my mind that my only option isto succeed. When I reach that truthful place, me being a performer do not see an anxiousaudience eager to dissect my message or challenge me. I instead see myself as one who is in tunewith the audience; even one with the audience. I consider that they are in need for a word, andcame to the gathering in search of Enlightenment. Every need, emotion, as well as every thoughtthat they conceive are felt as though they were my very own, and I intuitively know what andhow to speak to them. I by instinct understand how to reach each audience member.

For the second exercise, I want you to try and sit quietly for one hour without sleeping. Monitoryour thoughts. Observe if most of your thoughts are positive or negative. You can even practicedirecting your thoughts. See how long you can sustain your conscious intentions.

    Mastery

It is not my own right to be common-if I can. I seek opportunity not security. I want to takecalculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a

dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to thestale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for benefice nor my dignity for a handout. I willnever cower before any master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say, this I have done. All this is what it means to be an American. I do not choose tobe common. -Dean Alfange, Cornel University "Million Dollar Roundtable Creed"

Victor Commandment M1It is not that which you do occasionally that defines you; it is that which you habitually do thatcommunicates who you are.

Victor Commandment M2A true master never blame others for the circumstances in their lives, instead realizes that setbacks arelessons to learn from.

Criticism is nothing at all bad; don't see yourself as a victim; instead view this as an opportunityfor you to review and improve your performance. -Carlo R. Cartledge

Mastery: A new natureMastery causes for the student to take on a new nature; one must give up habits and responses

that impede growth. Giving up old patterns both mental and physical is required of the disciplefrom the very beginning. One must resist the urge to deviate from their training as the drudgeryof everyday life smoothers the flames of their once fiery ambitions. Other commitments will bevying for one's time, and the impulse to skip sessions will arise after only a couple of weeks orperhaps sooner. Stay committed. Consider the pleasure of a breakthrough. Imagine the reward of exceeding a limit. Once you decide to press on and take action, feel the sense of pride indefeating your most formidable opponent, which is yourself.

One is itJesus stated, "I Am that I Am." We are who we decide to be. To be, involves an endless processof perfecting one's self, and existence. If you are confused and desire clarity; then you become

that. Act as if. If you feel uncertain, then change your attitude and become confidence. If you areweak, become strength. Sun Tzu stated, chaos gives birth to control, fear gives birth to courage, and weakness gives birth to strength. Perceived weaknesses are opportunities that lead tomastery. You must develop a master's mindset. You must see your world as a work of art.Mastery is a process that has no end. It is simply aspiring to be more than you are at any giventime. Understand what you want, where you want to be, and what type of person you would liketo become. Then develop a solid process and follow it to a certain degree. Practice and monitoryour results until you have perfected it. Your goal is to keep things moving inevitably towardyour ultimate goal.

    Excellence

Mastery is the author of excellence. To obtain excellence things must be done the right way. Forexcellence demands order and deviating from it would be profane. Excellence is beautiful andcaptivating. Witnessing it is spellbinding. Its enchanting presence is captivating. Qualities suchas confidence, audacity, and authenticity are all in accordance in creating that which we callperfection.

Self AwarenessPeople should get to know their more real self, we should want to know the genuine and realaspect of our total beings. Become intimate with yourself. Explore your thoughts and dreams.See what they are trying to tell you. Having self awareness allows you to see where yourthoughts and emotions are taking you. This gives you the ability to control or redirect disruptiveimpulses and moods. When you become more self aware you instinctively begin to see aspects of your personality and behavior that you didnt notice before; granting you more control over your feelings and impulses. If certain impediments or negative impulses should arise, instinctively awarning bell should prompt you to take corrective actions.

Self awareness is the key ingredient in creating ideal excellence. Self awareness allows you todirect your focus on behavior and thought patterns, enabling you to find ways to control andeven channel them in useful ways. Where you focus your attention, your emotions, reactions, personality and behavior determine your success in life. If you keep thinking the way youvealways thought, youll keep doing what youve always done, thus keep getting what youve

always got. A true master understands what makes them click. They know what gets their juicesflowing.

Real self vs. Ideal self Carl Rogers, a humanistic theorist focused on his patients unique, conscious, and immediateexperiences. He considered their need to fulfill the self as motivation to change. Rogers believedthat we each try to maintain an organized, consistent image of ourselves, which he called "self concept." This directs our behavior and determines how we see reality. As we begin to grow andevolve, we will develop certain values and incorporate them into our "self concept;" thus creatingthe "ideal self." Without a doubt conflict will arise between the ideal self and real self. Rogerscontends that these discrepancies may compel the person to either alter their self concept or

behavior. The person must come to the realization that it is within themselves to choose.

Narrative StoryAs a person, I am constantly doing self examinations. I am constantly peeling back layers gettingto the essence of the real Carlo R. Cartledge. In doing so I find things about my-self that I am notcomfortable with. I can in fact have a very violent temper. At times I can be passive aggressive; Iwill par-take in self deprivation behavior denying myself the things that I need or desire. Thisreally bothers me. I struggle with these infirmities daily because of my self-concept . I realizedthat I am responsible for my own actions, and in order for things to change, then I must change. In being honest, I used to blame others for my impediments, mostly my mom. I blamed mymother for everything; things such as ruining my laundry to causing me to have a bad sense of

direction. I used to tell her that you if you would not have kept me in the house all the time, Iwould know where to go. Now we laugh and joke about it. I have a great mom. I love my mom,and she did an excellent job in raising me.

    Leadership

Victor Commandment L1In order to achieve gr eatness and maintain the respect of ones subordinates, The leader musthave a flexible disposition. Just as a general adapts to different battlefield conditions as thesituation dictates, a true leader must vary in their conduct from "good to evil" as fortune andcircumstances dictates.

Victor Commandment L2One must never complain of the faults committed by the people subjected to their authority, forthey result entirely from my on es negligence or bad example.

Victor Commandment L3Know which strategy and technique that is appropriate to what particular circumstance.

Victor Commandment L4Have confidence in what you are saying, believe it and they will follow you.

Victor Commandment L5A true leader acts upon their own imagination, relying on their own abilities and judgments, rather than conforming to patterns and practices established by others. To truly be successfulregardless of one's fortune or lack thereof, man must live by his own values.

Victor Commandment L6A great leader understands his environment; he makes an effort to reflect and respect outsidecultures.

Victor Commandment L7Its much better to prepare and not have the opportunity, than to have the opportunity and not beprepared.

Leadership: A lifestyle, not an activityAs a leader, you should never settle for anything less than excellence. One should set highstandards and instill the same mindset in their subordinates. Never settle for things that do notmeet your standard of excellence. In pursuing excellence, it is advantageous to create processes.

Processes are routines you follow to get things done more effectively. Processes preservevaluable time and energy, in addition to minimizing problems because you are now beingproactive and not reacting to situations.

An effective leader takes the initiative to address problems. Solving the problem in notsufficient; they actively seek to change the system to prevent the problem from reoccurring. Agreat leader understands that they might not always win, yet this does not deter them from givingtheir best effort. They can accept not winning, but can never accept not trying. As a leader, oneshould stack the deck in their favor. Create the illusion of over-delivering by promising less anddelivering more. Always give yourself ample time to deliver on promises, projects, andproposals. This will allow you to meet your deadlines early, demonstrating a high level of

    competence as a leader.

Leading is a privilegeA great leader is both fair and stern in dealing with their associates. They award those who doright, and take the necessary corrective action when associates do wrong. All aspiring leadersmust be aware of the feeling, needs, and concerns of their associates. Become a"Transformational Leader." A "Transformational Leader" inspires others to be extraordinary. They encourage others to go far beyond what they believe is possible. This is done byunderstanding your environment. A great leader understands cultural diversity and the needs; inaddition, to the desires of their associates. A great leader is not afraid to challenge bias andintolerance. People appreciate a leader who is fair, respectful, and consistent.

Preparation Preparation is key in leadership. Perform the necessary research, develop a plan, and then takeaction. Have a well thought out plan. Practice being organized in your thought process andactions. Do not become distracted over making the right decision because it leads toprocrastination. Understand that when you have sufficient information the decision will becomeclear. The most important thing is to decide and take action. Additionally, do things that willimprove the work you do. Take the time in doing the little things; this makes doing the big thingsextremely easy.

Communication Speak with confidence, power, and clarity. Be courteous, polite, and direct. Also practice askinggood questions. By asking questions you can elicit other people's strategies and needs. Bygaining access to these, you are in the position of power. Become an explorer by asking greatquestions, and discover the true meaning of what is being communicated. Questions will take aconversation deeper and help your associates articulate their thoughts and ideas with moreclarity.

When people can't talk to you, they start talking about you. You must be able to communicate onevery level including your clients, customer service representative, mate, waiter, and friends.Ones ability to communicate has the most to do with the impressions we make on others.Effective communication skills is critical to success both personal and professionally. Success

depends on how well you get your point across.

InitiativeSetting a good example is critical in creating a leadership presence; furthermore, doing a goodjob is the first step toward leadership. Your work represents you. "My first mentor always toldme that the only job he had a problem with was a half done job." Look for ways to stayproductive and involved. Be a leader and not a follower; always do what you know is the rightthing, and your work will be rewarded.A great leader understands the difference between excellence and perfectionism. Excellence isdoing what you feel is the right thing; putting forth your best effort. Perfectionism is an illusionbecause we can all do better and be better than we are at this present moment. Therefore, there is

no such thing as perfectionism. Perfectionism is a thief of time and energy. It deceives, createsfear, and causes procrastination. A perfectionist constantly torments him/herself because they areunable to deliver at an impossible standard. Projects are usually late or not completed out of fearof failure. As a leader do your best and let your work stand on the shoulders of your best effort.

Narrative story:Andrew, a former co-worker of mine, was perceived as unpleasant by seemingly everyone. Ishowed him that I was indeed pleasant to work with. I found a common ground which wasmusic. He was an Elvis fan. I used this as an opportunity to use my leadership skills. I found outthat Andrew was experiencing difficulties trying to advance in his career. He had been trying toget promoted for about 3 years to no avail. I conveyed to him that every job offers learning

opportunities. We began to communicate and relate to each other. He would jokingly tell me thathe would let me date his daughter. We became good acquaintances. We can make the most outof any work situation. My point is that you don't have to be in a leadership position to lead.

Fuse these attributes into your personality: Do your best at all times.Accept others, try and understand others without judging.Understand that your work demands a deep commitment from you.Appreciate beauty and excellence.Be detached from other's opinion.
