Compiled and illustrated by Uma Mahadeva, the book presents in layman's English, a complete set of dishes that are the repertoire of Dr. Seethadevi Mahadeva. There are over 60 recipes in this collection, including all the classic Jaffna dishes such as Thosai (Lentil and Rice Pancakes), Sambar (Vegetable Hotchpotch), Crab Curry , etc., and variations of popular dishes such as Fried Noodles and Chicken Curry . These dishes are tasty, not too hot to eat, and use fresh ingredients obtainable from supermarkets in the world’s cities and Sri Lankan Tamil and Asian grocers. These recipes are meant for busy mothers, workingmen and women and anyone wishing to taste new kinds of exotic curries that are nutritious & simple to cook at home, at modest costs. The book will be presented, and be available for sale at the Royal Asiatic Society on 7 th March from 6 to 8 pm, with samples of some of the popular recipes for tasting.
