The seed village pro-
gramme in Paddy has
been implemented by
ARM at Baliapal Block under the guideline of
NABARD and
KVK,Balasore
Location Two villages Nayabali &
jamkunda under Baliapal block of Balasore district
have been selected for
the programme.
Target Group A total of 98 farmers (52 farmers of Nayabali and
46 farmers of Jamkunda
village) have been di-
rectly involved in the pro-
gramme.
Land coverage A total of 40 acres of land
(20 acres at Nayabali and
20 acres at Jamkunda village) of target farmers
has been covered under
the programme.
Seed variety Paddy seeds of swarna variety and Pratikshya
have been used for the
programme.52 farmers
have used Swarna seeds in 20 acres of land and 46
farmers have used Pratik-
shya in 20 acres of
land.Seeds are purchased
from Odisha State seed
corporation Ltd.Balasore.
Use of Bio Fartilizer PSB and Azospilillum@
2Kg. Per acre has been
used.NPK fertilizer has also been used in the ra-
tio 32:16:16.
Use of Fungicides & pesticides
Blitox-50 and Bactri-
nashak one time and Tria-zophos one time have
been used.
Seed Village programme Kharif Paddy 2011-12
Training of farmers The target farmers have been provided with pre seasonal & other demonstration
training facilities in groups.Both theoretical and practical classes have been conducted by the Scientists from KVK.All farmers have participated in practical work from land preparation to harvesting.They are made aware of seed variety,bio fertilizer,pesticides and insets. Very fruitful training has been conducted under the prgramme and DDM, NABARD have also strengthen the programme for successful implementation.

Farmers community have been organized and adopted skills on innovative cultivation tech-
niques.
New tools & implements has reduced drudgery.
Scientific practices has helped in higher production and productivity.
Profitable cultivation and optimum return has omproved livelihood of farmers through sus-
tainable marketing channel.
Other farmers have been interested to adopt the innovative techniques and skills in paddy
and got information about the techniques from trained farmers.
