• If you are hungry, eat• I bring a kettle and tea, coffee, etc. You may want to

bring a cup-o-whatever• If you need to attend to a personal matter, please do

so outside of the classroom• If you are uncomfortable sitting, stand up, stretch, do

what will make you feel better• If you need to use the washroom, please do

Field Experience

• Begins in weeks 3 - 5• Ends in weeks 11 - 14• No more than 3 hours per visit• Should largely be spent observing reading

instruction and teaching small groups or 1-1, also instructing case study student

• Done in a general education K, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade classroom

• Includes doing a case study• Hours must be signed off by a host teacher

on every visit

• Because you get to play reading games

• Because only 11% of children who do not read at grade level by the end of grade 1 will ever read at grade level (Cunningham & Stanovich, 1989).
