Itried to store a few tomatoes,buthadtofreezethembecausetheyjustweren’tstayingfresh.A small pail of apples and afew melons is all that’s leftfor fresh eating. Mike andAnna gave us a beautiful, bigwatermelon from their gardenand I must say that it is thesweetest one we’ve eaten allsummer.Thelonghotsummerwas good for the melon andpumpkincrop.Ihaveafeelingthattherewillbealotofjack-o’-lanternsoutthisyear.

School news The Back to Schoolbarbecue was held Thursday,Sept. 13 and was very wellattended. Main Street waslined with vehicles with theoverflow parked on the truckparkinglotonthewestsideofthestreet.Manystayedtochatwhile the kids played on theplayground. Thanks to parentcouncil and staff for thegreat

evening. Rob Fleming, the physed instructor, has started upthe student running club.It will take place duringmorning recess from 10:35-10 55 a.m., Tuesdays andThursdays for five weeks.Runners who attend the firstnine runs are invited to takepartintheFunRun–thetenthrun.
