7 August 2017

Hi everyone! My name is Alfredo Alqueza Corpuz Jr. I am very excited to be join-ing the Grade 5 team here in ACS Jakarta. I will be

the grade 5 Science teacher and the homeroom teacher of 5-Respect. I am looking forward to a year of cool experiments, and exciting Science lessons. I was born in the Philippines and had my education there. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Biology for Teachers. My course allows me to teach up to tertiary students. Over the last 7 years of my teaching experience, I have taught various levels such as Physics in Grade 10, Chemistry in Grade 9, Biology

in Grade 8, Earth Science in Grade 7, and basic Science in Grades 4 to 6. I have been teaching here in Indonesia for 3 years now. Currently, I live in East Jakarta with my wife and our cute little dog Win-ter. Some of my interests are music and playing the guitar. I love to cook and watch Masterchef. I am fond of the outdoors as I love going in camps, being one with nature and the thrill of climbing mountains. I also like to participate in sports like karate and marathons. For me, honesty, respect, discipline, and hard work are very essential to be the best person, someone can be. I am very excited to inspire young minds here in ACS and share the great wonders of Science. Come and join me as we take a deep dive in the world of Science.

THE NEW TEACHERS

Hello! My name is Anna Lyn and I am very excited to joining the Primary School team at ACS Jakarta! I am thrilled to educate the students and I’m looking forward to a year of Science learning, fun, and adventures with the primary students. I can’t wait to learn all about the ACS family, but first let me tell you a little about me. I am an educator at heart, being a graduate of the Bachelors and Masteral degrees in teaching Science. I have worked in various other schools, with years of teaching experience in the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia. I have written several books published in the Philippines and Singapore

related to Science and a story book. I also love travelling and exploring places locally and Internationally. I enjoy learning from different cultures and establish connections with people from those places. Being a nature-lover, I also love taking photos, exploring or just simply gazing at the beauty of the natural sceneries from different places or countries. Part of my goal as a Science educator is to spark curiosity and creativity in the minds of the students. Therefore, I hope to share my learning experiences and excite the students about the world of learning and broaden their academic interests. There is so much that I am looking forward to this academic year, so hope I would get to know all of you soon.

My name is Dimas I am thrilled to be joining the ACS Jakarta community for the 2017-2018 academic year, as a PE teacher for Junior School. My name might confuse you as you are guessing whether I came from Java or Sumatera. I am actually was born and raised in Tangerang, Indonesia. I studied Primary Education in Teachers College UPH joined with Corban University. I have been teaching PE for 5 years straight in an international

school since I graduated. I am still single as I am writing this but I am getting married in 1st of July. I have been dating my fiancee for 7 years and she is truly the teacher of our relationship so far. Teaching is an investment in the lives of children who need our care, our concern and our wisdom. The learning nev-er stops for the students or for the teacher because I truly believe THE BEST IS YET TO BE! I am some-times a teacher, but always a stu-dent. I look forward to the vari-ous challenges and op-portunities ACS Jakarta will pro-vide.

my name is Hilda Novita. I was an ESP teacher for the ACS Primary School from 2010 – 2014. After taking a break from the school to complete my Master’s Degree in Applied English Linguistic in Atma Jaya

University, I am so excited to be back working in ACS Jakarta. This year I will be in charge of the school’s Cambridge English Preparation Program for local students who wish to join the school’s scholarship program in Grade 10. I will also be in charge of the English for Staff Program.

Hello. My name is Andi Tenri. I graduated my Master of Design from

Asia University, Taiwan and been teaching Art and Design since 2003 from college students to kindergarten students. Sharing my knowledge and creative activities are something I have always enjoyed. My imagination has always been an incredible driving force in my life, and has done and still does have influence on almost

everything I do. It has always been the most natural and easiest way for me to express myself. I love to make costumes, useful crafts, painting and designing things. To take a journey in art is to follow a path that is never ending; you will never know all there is to know or see and discover. I believe we all see the world differently and those differences that makes us beautiful in our own uniqueness. Really excited to teach Art in ACS Jakarta Pr imary School to see all those uniqueness there in.

Greetings! I am Srina Shari, from Singapore and am a member of a sports-loving family of five. I have been an educator for 20

years and exposed to a spectrum of students ranging from 6 to 18 years of age. I have taught a range of subjects that include Humanities, English Language and Physical Education across levels. I have been warmly welcomed at ACS Jakarta however, this is not my first year in Indonesia. I began my teaching career in Singapore followed by a decade in Indonesia. My last deployment was in South Korea

and that was for five years. It is key that I get to know my students’ strengths and weakness, so that together we can enhance the former and improve the latter. It is also important for us to understand the impact a positive and strong three-pronged approach has on students’ journey. This revolves around a healthy symbiotic relationship between students, school and home. Everyone needs to do his part. I advocate a balanced lifestyle and strongly encourage participation in the arts and sports whilst one pursues academic potential in school. I look forward to meeting you and having another meaningful time in Indonesia.

My name is Ravina English Educator from Durban, South Africa. I have been accorded the pleasant task of teach Gr. 3 Engish

at ACS Jakarta. My reasons for coming to Jakarta to teach English, is firstly because I love working with little children, and secondly to imbibe the culture of Indo nesia. With my years of experience, I trust that I will make a positive impact on the lives of

the little ones I am teaching, helping them succeed in their English skills. My introduction to ACS Jakarta was truly one of amazement : The good values that the school instills in its learners, in all spheres of its activities, is incredible. I am impressed by how respectful and courteous everyone is, and it makes working in such an environment such a pleasant experience. I aim to become a fully intergrated member of this grand establishment and make a meaningful contribution to school life.

Hi, ACS My name is Lily Yuliani I teach Mandarin Chinese. I completed

my Chinese Language Scholarship Programme in National Chengchi University, Taipei – Taiwan in 2002 before finally graduating from Chinese Studies in University of Indonesia in 2004. I love books, music, art & craft, travelling and watching movies. In fact, ACS Jakarta is not a new place for me since I had gone through 10 years of journey being a Mandarin teach-

er in ACS Jakarta Primary School. Thanks to my colleagues and leaders, I’ve grown and learned a lot here. However, I decided to take a break last June after I deliv-ered my twin babies. And now just a year after, I am so lucky to get this opportunity to return to this family with just a bit of shifting to Secondary School. Wow, it’s great to be back and see old faces! I really feel like coming back to my second home. I’m so excited to meet my old students as well as get to know our new family members this year. Jiāyóu!!!

Myself, Gargi Roychoudhury and I hail from Mumbai, India. I am quite excited to be a part of the ACS family. I have been in the

education field for more than two decades now and worked in countries like China, Singapore and UK. In my teaching career, I have had the opportunity of teaching the IGCSE and IB curriculum for humanities and my strength lies in Business and management, Economics and History. During this journey, I have managed to gain professional developments in the above mentioned subjects, Theory of Knowledge, Approaches to teaching and Learning, Extended Essay and Diploma Coordination. I am also an examiner for IBDP History (Paper 2and 3) from the past 6 years and had the opportunity to be part of the

Assessment -Standardization team at IB Cardiff. I believe ‘knowledge shared is knowledge gained’ and therefore I consider myself a teacher-learner. My pedagogy has been student-centric which allows me to know my students better and tailor my lessons as per individual preferences and abilities. Every student is unique and has their own set of beliefs, ideas and feelings therefore it is very important for me to know them as much as possible in order to carve the best out of them. I have always shared a wonderful rapport with my management team, colleagues, students and parents group and am connected with them through social networking. My hobbies include writing non- fictional short stories, dance, music-singing, painting, interior-designing, theatre and traveling. In sports, I love swimming and playing table-tennis. I love meeting people from different corners of the world to experience the flavor of diverse cultures and this brings me and my husband to this beautiful destination, Jakarta.

Hello all! My name is Liana and I will re-join ACS Ja-karta to teach additional mathematics

and higher level mathematics this academic year. I am a mother of one beautiful daughter and like to cook for my family. I earned my Bachelor Science degree from National University of Singapore in

2003 majoring in Mathematics and Statistics. ACS Jakarta, which was still called Sekolah Tiara Bangsa in 2004, was the place where I started building my teaching career and I have been continuously teaching mathematics for secondary until high school levels until now. Both teaching students and teaching mathematics are my passion, and I want my students to see mathematics as a thoughtful, yet enjoyable subject to learn. God bless all of us!

My name is Harold Rempis, and I will be teaching Information and communication technology. I have a degree

in Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, and I am currently taking up masters in educational management. This is my first-year teaching at ACS Jakarta, and I am looking forward to a great year with you.

Hi, my name is Erni Farida Sri Ulina Ginting. You can simply call me Erni. I was born in Jayapura, Papua, on

December, 10th 1975. It was the place where I spent my childhood. Living there for about fourteen years was such a great experience for me. When I was in the junior high school, I moved to Jakarta, and since then I live in this our lovely city. I completed my study at Faculty of Letters, Indonesian Department, University of Indonesia, in 1998. Five years later, I had my master degree in linguistics from the same

university. To be a doctor was my childhood’s dream, but life has brought me to another dream: being a specialist in language, specially Indonesian. Cooking, reading, watching movies, and gardening are my best friends in my free time. I cook whatever I want, I read any kind of books, I watch thriller movies, and there is a very small garden at my home where I plant any kind of plants. Now, life has offered me another door to be walked in : being a part of ACS Jakarta family. I know that I am on my way to doing some great things indeed. As a proverb says that we will never find out our real worth until we give life our best shot, and that’s the thing that I am going to do here.

Hi, I am Benedict Chris I will be Teaching Physical Education this coming 2017-

2018 academic year. I have been teaching PE for 13 years where 6 years I taught in a reputable university in the Philippines and another 7 years in an international school in West Jakarta. I graduated from University of the Philippines with a degree of Sports Science, major in Physical Education and specializes in swimming and aquatics. My concentration is more of pool and open water safety swimming, grass-roots learning, competitive and survival swimming for children to adults. Education has been my passion wherein I am a 3rd generation

teacher and I teach beyond the subject concentration. During my free time, I spend most of my time with family, specially playing with my 9-year old son and a 4-year-old daughter. If I don’t play with them it is mostly doing a couple of laps in the pool, jog for 5 km or watch a baseball game which is my past time sport. As a teacher I go beyond the norms of teach and educate young minds. As an educator I hone them to be better individuals who are able to contribute to society with a better outlook in life through the avenue of sports. Sports for me has been a tool of becoming the person who you want to be. As we go through this journey, let me say hello to everyone and it will be my great honour to work with you.

Hello, my name is Kurt Trytsman. I'm from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and I am excited to be joining my wife Jaclyn at ACS Jakarta. I have

spent the past two decades teaching guitar in a variety of

styles, and music history and theory, at several schools in Port Elizabeth, the Port Elizabeth Music Conserva-toire, and at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. I look forward to working with the talented musicians at ACS in musical disciplines ranging from classical to rock. I love travelling and history, and I believe music is a most wonderful means of telling the stories of different cultures.
