Keynote Speaker In format ion:Dr. L i l i an Peake : Dr. Lilian Peake serves as director of Health Services for the S.C. Department

of Health and Environmental Control. Prior to joining DHEC, Peake served as the deputy commissioner for Population Health for the Virginia Department of Health in Richmond, Virginia. While working there she also held positions as the director of the Office of Family Health Services and district health director for the Thomas Jefferson Health District. During her tenure as district health director, she led the district to become accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board. Dr. Peake holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Prior to obtaining her MPH and MD degrees, Peake worked in marketing and communications for 10 years.

An ton Gunn, MSW: Anton Gunn is the Chief Diversity Officer at the Medical University ofSouth Carolina in Charleston where he resides with his wife and

daughter. He served as the senior officer in the Obama administration of external affairs and health and human services where he advised President Obama and Kathleen Sibelius and public strategies to introduce the affordable healthcare act. He previously served as an elected leader in the House of Representatives from 2009-2011, becoming the first African-American in South Carolina history to represent House District 79. In 2012, Anton was recognized in the Huffington Post as one of the Top 50 Progressive Activists. Gunn, a South Carolina native, holds a bachelor in history in social work from the University of South Carolina.

D r. Me l i ssa S t rompo l i s : Melissa Strompolis, PhD, is the Director of Research andEvaluation at Children’s Trust of South Carolina.

POPULATION HEALTH SUMMIT

Through her work at Children’s Trust, she engages in program evaluation and data integration to drive and improve efforts to prevent child maltreatment and improve child well-being. Dr. Strompolis is also an affiliate faculty member at the Institute for Families in Society in the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina and at the Yvonne & Schuyler Moore Child Development Center in the College of Education at the University of South Carolina. Prior to working at Children’s Trust, she was a research associate at the Center for Child and Family Studies in the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina, a research assistance at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and a research associate for the United States Navy. Locally, she leads the South Carolina State Data Team and serves on the Joint Council for Children and Adolescents.
