Renee has been a true asset to the MB/M Department since she came on board over a year ago. She has been the type of work study employee that I can count on in many ways like a true colleague. She has an impeccable attendance record, works without supervision, and has an ability to follow-up that continues to amaze me and set my mind at ease. She epitomizes “conscientious” in this regard. Renee comes to me with questions regarding overall work flow in the department, and has become my go-to person. I participate in various departmental initiatives, including the Rethink Music Conference and a corresponding trip to France that kept me out of the office at the beginning of the semester. Renee stayed in touch with me via email and relayed work flow messages to the other work studies. Shortly after returning from France, I was also hit with two deaths in my family and an injury around the same time. Again, Renee was there for the department. The other students were also there, but Renee seemed to shine above.

Without being asked, Renee worked extra hours to cover my seat/front end operations. This all says “leader” to me. Because of the continually growing needs of our department and a change in physical space in the last year, it became apparent to us that we would need the assistance of work studies to cover my seat at various times so that I can work in an uninterrupted fashion for small periods of time. Renee was very willing to adapt to this change and it has made a big difference for me. I know it was a lot to ask after being in the position for about a year. Renee is extremely attentive to detail, proven over and again by her ability to catch small errors and her ability to take a concept (like preparing for our Majors Fair) from start to finish. To comment further on the trip to France, she also shined in helping me with travel expense reports after the trip. There were at least 3 from that trip alone, along with several other regular travel expense reports that were submitted for processing at the same time. I knew I would need to delegate in order to get these processed in a timely enough manner. I spent a short time going through some of the basics with Renee, and she absolutely astounded me with her ability to run with it, ask very intelligent questions, and deal with THE most complex travel expense report I’ve seen in my 4 years at Berklee. It had multiple weeks on it, international currency conversions, and other intricacies. She did a perfect job!! She is committed in this way to everything she does, especially when learning something new. On top of all of this, Renee is a kind and caring person. Her kindness is apparent in the way she says “hello” and the genuine concern she shows for others. She is well-liked by her fellow student employees and by the faculty. I can’t imagine how this semester would’ve gone without Renee’s support and skills. I am touched by her and I am proud of her. I hope you will give her top consideration for a student employment award this year. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 617-747-2152.
