Inmarsat and Iridium Tier 1 relationships

Ship Board Products L-Band – Maritime Industry standard, the trusted workhorse. Legacy maritime communication is built upon L-Band products and services, specifically Inmarsat based products and service. Globecomm know this technology and service well. We are an Inmarsat Distribution Partner (DP). • From Inmarsat terminals allowing global emergency voice calling to

the latest BGAN voice and data systems Globecomm offers the full range of Inmarsat marine terminals from the leading manufacturers including:

Iridium is a cost-effective solution to budget-conscious satellite users that includes voice and data communications. The Iridium satellite system provides assured pole to pole golbal communications coverage, particularly critical in areas with inadequate landline service or at sea.

VSAT - Very Small Aperture, Very High Bandwidth Globecomm’s premium connectivity solution is based on larger, gyro-stabilized antenna systems that allow data rate speeds upwards of multiple mbps in both directions, distributing IP content to vessels 24/7.

L-Band Services VSAT services are not for everyone, many requirements can be addressed with lower cost, pay as you go plans as offered by Inmarsat and Iridium.

These services are primarily supported through Inmarsat or Iridium based satellite opera- tors. These solutions have been the backbone of the maritime and remote calling industry for many years and are still the trusted source for low volume, high availability services.

• Fleet Broadband by Inmarsat plays an integral role in the lives of seafarers, it provides global reliable maritime communications.

• FB150: Entry level terminal with voice and data speeds up to 150 Kbps. • FB250: terminal with voice and shared bandwidth data up to 284kbps,

and streaming speeds up to 128kbps. • FB500: Shared IP data up to 432kbps.

• Iridium is the only voice and data satellite provider with true pole to pole global coverage. Iridium solutions range from handheld satellite phones to vessel mounted voice and data terminals.

• Satellite Phones: The ultimate in trusted, reliable mobile handset communications. • OpenPort: Easy to install, delivers up to 3 phone lines for simultaneous use, and

data speeds up to 128kb.

se@COMM®: Globecomm’s answer to make the unknown, known

se@COMM is a simple to use software communication suite that manages all of your email, data and online communication requirements while at sea. se@COMM makes currently installed Iridium or Inmarsat communication systems – including the latest broadband services from both Inmarsat and Iridium – far more efficient, using link optimization and advanced compression algorithms. Benefiting both vessel owners and crew members, se@COMM controls costs while providing services typically expected with land-based communications.

Cost Control for Maritime Communications se@COMM is an advanced maritime communication management system designed to address the specific needs of the vessel Master and Shipping Company. It allows complete control of the communication circuit, whether that be a legacy “dial-up” type, or the more recent broadband connections now available to vessels at sea. Software and Hardware Firewalls are put in place to ensure that no unwanted or unnecessary data is transmitted. Permitted websites can be defined by name or IP Address, ensuring that users can only browse to allowed destinations, if at all. All this is done in keeping with Telaurus’ traditional philosophy of pricing transparency, meaning that Users not only know the cost of their emails before they are sent, but now they can see in real-time the actual costs of any web-browsing or remote access session.

• Automated Switching integrates shipboard communications systems. A single device controls multiple terminals. Intelligent design maximizes VSAT services, between satellites and beams, before switch- ing to L-Band. When Ku-band becomes available again, it automatically switches back making the beam transition seamless.

• Automatic Prioritization. Intelligent application monitoring. If VSAT service is lost and L-band service comes online, our platform gives you the option to automatically restrict crew access to high-bandwidth ap- plications like Web browsing, file transfer or video streaming in order to prioritize mission-critical traffic. Crew services are automatically restored when VSAT service becomes available.
