HIB had three Marines check out of their worldly duty station recently.

mm gun striker on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La. Gene Robinson passed away February 28th. He was a Korean War vet who later played in a popular rock band. All will be missed. Howard Stout passed away February 17th. Howard was a World War II Marine who fought on Okinawa and was sent to China after the war.

Near restful shores he leads me, To boost my low morale. He marches me along the right trail; He is “Semper Fidelis” to his name. If I should charge into storms of lead, No death would I fear. You are there with your map and compass; With these you give me liberty. You have prepared the chow hall for me In the sight of my foes. You anoint my head with a high and tight; My mug is overflowing. Surely fair winds and following seas Shall follow me all the days of my tour. In the Lord’s own camp shall I stand easy For ever and ever.

Courts of Honor were held on February 26 and March 5th for scouts earning there Eagle badges. Fred Axthelm presented three scouts the Marine Corps

League’s Good Citizenship Certificate with Medal. Marine Axthelm’s commitment to this recognition program is outstanding. Oorah!

Also, if you don’t have a computer and an email address the Detachment can provide you with free

web based email that you can check from any computer that you have access to. Simply call Greg Wappel at 317-816-0562 and he will set you up to be electronically connected. Sound too easy?
