• The knife featured in the poster is Black:

• This is used to show the contrasting effect of the Black knife on the white background. The white background infers purity and the black knife is symbolic of an invasion of this and foreshadows events in which unpure life is perhaps made to pay for the sins which they have conducted.

• The front cover features little text to withhold a lot of information. This is important as it makes the film more mysterious and the focus is solely on the knife which we can only use to assume is used as a weapon of murder and gives us a clear view of the genre and a small insight to the hidden storylines.

• The font styling used is in bold which allows the reader of the poster to notice it straight away. The capital letters also show the importance of the title in relation to the film. The font looks very standard as seems to be an everyday type of font. This is significant as it means that the audience will feel closer to the horror as they will be more likely to think it applies to them.

• The knife is also significant as it represents the number 4. Obviously inferring that it is the fourth film in the series. Also the number 4 in china is considered to be unlucky as it is pronounced similarly to the word meaning death in Chinese.
