Oh So Sweet by Becky Fleck

With a photo as delightful as this one of Hadley, I knew I had to combine the two pho-tos found on the sketch into one. After balling up pieces of patterned paper and then smoothing them fl at, I layered several sizes of punched circles. Shiny buttons top two of the stacks, and a birdie is perched on the third. A row of paper lollipops takes the place of the buttons below the title in the sketch, boosting the theme of the page.

So Sweet by Becky Fleck

Panels of cardstock, hinged together and slipped into the opening of an old barn wood frame, make for a unique album, and just about any 8½"x11" (22cm x 28cm) sketch will do the trick as inspiration for the design. By lift-ing up on each ribbon loop, this album opens like the petals of a fl ower, revealing page after page of delicious treats. By using patterned paper from the same collection, the project came together quickly, and I didn’t have to overthink the design of each page.

Agile by Becky Fleck

A palette drenched in crayon colors and crowned with a vivid, blue sky sets the stage for an action-packed, outdoor page that stays true to the sketch. Enter Libby, the jumping bean herself. Coming in from the left, I drew dashed arcs that bounce off the title and head into the fi rst photo. These arcs continue to sprint through the center of the layout, intertwined with the photos of Libby in action, adding motion to the page. A row of commands that propel Libby through a 12-contact agility course runs below the thin strip of orange paper.
