VBOC: Who Are We?
The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) Program is designed to provide
entrepreneurial development services such as business training, counseling and
mentoring, and referrals for eligible Veterans owning or considering starting a
small business.
VBOC: Who Do We Serve?
The FSU VBOC is located in SBA region IV, which covers Kentucky, North
Carolina, and South Carolina. The VBOC program serves:
• Active Duty
• Veterans
• Guard/Reserve
• Spouses of the above
VBOC: What Do We Offer?
• We offer professional and confidential business counseling.
• Ways we assist our clients:
– By helping them write a successful business plan
– Providing information on how to conduct market research
– Facilitate an understanding of market and economic conditions
– Assist with financial planning/lending
– Referral resource
VBOC: What Do We Offer?
The VBOC offers a wide variety of seminars and workshops to assist small
businesses. Some of the topics include:
• How to Start a Business
• How to Write a Business Plan
• Financing Your Business
• Accounting for Non-Financial Managers
• Marketing and Advertising
• Government Contracting
VBOC: Entrepreneur Boot Camp
The VBOC Entrepreneur Boot Camp is an intense, five-day integrated training
program for Veterans, Service Disabled Veterans, Active Duty, Guard, Reserve,
Military Retirees, and Spouses.
• EBC Phase I – Online Concept Development and Self Study
• EBC Phase II – Face-to-Face Boot Camp
• EBC Phase III – Mentoring and Venture Development
• Partnership with NC VetBiz
– Currently working on a Strategic Alignment Memorandum (SAM) with NC VetBiz

The VBOC has assisted many businesses in Kentucky, North Carolina and South
Carolina:
• New Clients Counseled: 427
• Existing Clients Counseled: 1,203
• Number of Start-ups: 42
• Number of Jobs Created: 372
