2015-16 SCIAA Wrap up

The Friends of SCS Golf Classic was established to support the student athletes of Shelby County Schools. The benefits of athletics are undeniable, both in academics and in life. This special event pro-vides a way for our caring community to ensure the boys and girls who play school sports every year have the resources they need to succeed on and off the field. Thousands of Shelby County Schools students are currently playing a sport for their middle or high school. Their success has been amazing, with approximately 60 individual or team state champion-ships in the past five years. Unfortunately, in an era of limited resources, it will become increasingly more difficult to provide the resources and support to ensure students continue to have opportunities to participate safely and successfully. With an array of sponsorship and donation opportunities during the Friends of SCS Golf Classic, you can help make a direct positive impact on our student athletes! Tee off with us Friday, June 3, at Tunica National Golf Course! Go to www.schoolseed.org/SCSGolfClassic to register for a great day of fun on the fairways supporting the student athletes of Shelby County Schools! Individual Fee-$250 Team Fee (4)-$1000 Your fee includes a spot in our 18-hole best ball scramble, cart, lunch, player gifts, awards ceremony, and even a chance to win a brand new car!! Plus you can buy a $30 Super Ticket to be entered in our putting contest for a chance at $100,000 or an amazing golf getaway.

3rd Annual Winter & Spring Athletic Banquet of Champions The 3rd Annual SCIAA Winter & Spring Athletic Banquet of Champions will be held at the Memphis Zoo on May 20th. Doors will open at 5:30 for dinner and socializing. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. After the ceremony, desserts will be served in the Memphis Zoo’s newest exhib-it, Zambezi River Hippo Camp. This will be your chance to experience the new Zambezi River Hippo Camp along with a special night animal feeding. All SCIAA Winter & Spring Sports Champions will be recognized at this momentous event. The SCIAA is also honored to recognize the top scholar-athletes from every SCIAA middle and high school. Invitations to Winter SCIAA Championship teams and MVPs, all Schol-ar Athletes, and SCS School Administrators were sent out. If you have not received your invitations, please contact Lecia Schluterman at schlutermanl@scsk12.org. Spring Sports Champions and MVP invita-tions will be sent out immediately after the Championship events. We look forward to closing out the year with our Winter and Spring Sports Champions, Scholar-Athletes, Coaches, and Administrators.
