School Remote Learning Plan
Transcript of School Remote Learning Plan
School Remote Learning Plan
In order to ensure that learning is continued, irrespective of lockdown and self-isolation, Kobi Nazrul Primary School has developed the following plan. This plan offers remote learning opportunities whilst also acknowledging that some households have limited access to devices and would require hard-copies of work and resources.
This plan will be applied in the following instances:
1. An individual is self-isolating because of a positive test within the household; 2. A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in the bubble; 3. A whole bubble or cohort is self-isolating because of an outbreak of coronavirus 4. If another lockdown occurs and school is closed to children other than those vulnerable or
those of key workers. The plan complies with the expectations and principles outlined in the DFE document Guidance for Full Opening of Schools.
Software and online platforms
Within all plans, teachers will set appropriate work in-line with our current curriculum, primarily supplemented by a range of resources provided by Accelerated Reader (Y2-6) and White Rose Maths.
Children will remain in contact with their class teachers through Zoom (for face to face learning) and Google Classroom for the online element.
Teachers may also upload resources / links to google classroom from:
- BBC bitesize - Accelerated Reader - Oak Academy: the online lessons are free to all and offer a recorded taught session so that the
children can access physical teaching from a teacher and then access work relating to that lesson within the same website. There are also hundreds of lessons specifically aimed at children with SEND needs and requiring additional support. Class teachers are to use the lessons in the classroom so children are familiar with the platform.
- White Rose Maths resources will be used as they are matched to our current maths curriculum model. Children are very used to seeing these resources.
- MyMaths - Pie Corbett (Talk for Writing)
Zoom will support our school in offering true online learning with the opportunity for the children to communicate with their teacher through live video. Often this will be used to either:
- Signal a beginning to learning for the day or a check-in point of the day (much like a register with some teacher modelling)
- so children can ‘drop-in’ to receive further support
- or specific groups and times are set for small group work with the teacher
This will look slightly different in each year group and times will be staggered to support families where there are multiple siblings.
We will continue to use WhatsApp to communicate in print with families and to celebrate fantastic work throughout the week using our highlights reel.
Whole school parent zooms will continue where appropriate to make share information with families but also offer an opportunity to ask questions etc; particularly important with current covid-safe arrangements in school.
In the event of any form of isolation and loss of learning caused by Coronavirus, parents must understand that engagement in home learning is expected – not a choice, as is the expectation that Kobi Nazrul Primary School makes that provision available and accessible to all. Children get one shot at education and we need to maximise opportunities. However, if children themselves are too ill to attend then they should not be expected to engage in home learning.
In preparation for home-learning, parents and children need to receive logins and passwords for the following platforms (likewise teaching staff need to be familiar with them):
Google Classroom
Accelerated Reader
White Rose Maths
Worksheets and Practical Resources
If a child is isolated from school i.e. the child is sent home from school to either receive a test or self-isolate as someone in the household is being tested, they will leave school with a pack of work and their own stationery pack. (Currently children have these from the end of the summer term where we handed them out during the holidays; these will be updated to new year groups before the end of the term. Children will have immediate opportunity to continue their learning. Teachers may set specific pages to match what is being taught in class.
The work packs should be basic skills work that would be relevant at any stage of the year i.e. arithmetic, spelling, reading, writing (with a visual prompt) and handwriting.
Where individuals are isolating, resources will be uploaded onto google classroom and will be either the same (or as near as practical)
Our EYFS may provide resourced packs to take home if that is determined to better meet the needs of our youngest children.
Remote Learning
The initial response to any isolation will be to provide children with home learning materials alongside their class stationery pack (this might need to be delivered). In the case of whole cohort isolation, resources will be uploaded to Google Classroom and if necessary, children will have packs delivered. This measure will afford teachers a short time to prepare their remote learning resources.
Children will be registered every day when they log onto their zoom. It will either be to introduce work or to review what they will have completed independently in the morning (whatever is most appropriate).
Pupil needs to isolate because someone in their household is symptomatic or tests positive
Ongoing Support Safeguarding/SEND
Children will use the lessons and resources uploaded onto google classroom

A daily meal / food bag will be made available through LBTH catering service for all children
If child is vulnerable in any way, the DSL will ensure that appropriate agencies are notified and arrange for regular safe and well checks via a phone call from the DSL (record on VC tracker).
If a child does not engage, the allocated member of staff for that class is to call the parents to discuss obstacles and support.
A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in their class bubble
Ongoing Support Safeguarding/SEND
Using Google Classroom, the class teacher will upload worksheets ideally the day before to allow parents to see the learning materials prior to supporting their child/ren.
If teaching input is required for core lessons, the teacher can either direct the parent to a relevant online link or they could use Zoom to teach directly to the isolated group. Only the class teacher and modelling area will be viewable on screen. Non-core lessons and resources will be uploaded to Google Classroom.
Once the modelling is complete, the Class teacher will briefly discuss the learning with the isolating children via Google classroom before ending the conversation.

Those not engaging with home learning are to receive a phone call from a member of SLT to discuss the obstacles and support.
A whole bubble/cohort of children is isolating because of an outbreak of coronavirus
Ongoing Support Safeguarding/SEND
Teachers will schedule a Zoom meeting with the children and parents for the
following day (after isolation). In this meeting the teacher will discuss the remote learning arrangements and expectations. Teachers will also share a timetable of learning – this will consist of core subject lessons, a non-core lesson and a whole class reading session per day.
Using Google Classroom, the Class teacher will upload worksheets the day before ideally (although this may not always be possible) to allow parents to see the learning materials prior to supporting their child/ren. Assistant teachers / nursery nurses will be able to support the Class teacher in identifying resources.
The Class teacher will share links to appropriate lessons from White Rose Maths or identified sources within phase/class plan) lessons through Google Classroom. Teachers will then be accessible to children through Zoom so that any issues or re-teaching can be delivered live. Assistant Teachers will also access the Zoom live lessons so that they can support children in breakout rooms or translate etc should this be required.
For non-core lessons, resources will be uploaded to Google Classroom and where possible web-links to appropriate support materials will be shared.
Time will also be scheduled for the children to watch an assembly delivered by Mr Rawlings. This will encourage children to keep working, celebrate successes and promote a togetherness.
Completed work should be photographed and uploaded to Google Classroom. Teachers can then review the work completed and ensure that the following day’s lesson addresses misconceptions etc. Feedback and queries can take place throughout the day using either Teams or Google Classroom, depending on the teacher’s preference. Those children that need additional support following feedback are to be directed to the Teams

If any child is vulnerable in any way, the DSL will ensure that appropriate agencies are notified and arrange for regular safe and well checks via a phone call from the DSL (record on the vulnerable children’s tracker).
Those not engaging with home learning are to receive a phone call from a member of SLT to discuss the obstacles and the support needed by the family. This could then be followed up by calls from identified support staff within phases to manage pastoral issues (or SLT where deemed necessary)
Where children would normally receive additional support from SEND agencies, the SENDCO will make arrangements for those to continue via Zoom as long as the agencies engage. Daily live phonics lessons will take place for those children currently in phonics groups. Children with SEND may also have an additional resource pack where that better meets the child’s learning needs.
Children who are new to English will have live English sessions daily.
meeting for that lesson with attendance expected.
In the event of teachers becoming ill, support staff will be required to ‘takeover’ the Google Classroom account with resources being identified by the other phase teachers.

EAL Remote Learning Live Teaching Overview
Virtual support
Children who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) may need extra support to be able to
do/understand the work set by their teacher. Debra/Rashel/class ATs to follow up the weekly
teacher Zoom to explain in the child's home language - the weekly timetable, activities, reminders of
how to upload their finished work onto Google Classrooms, etc. This is an opportunity to make sure
the children understand what they have to do that week.
This would be totally separate to a Zoom session where we could do a specific EAL session say on a
Monday, which would allow us to model the language structure/vocab to be learned that week,
leaving them with related activities to get on with before the next session. This EAL work will be
built into the weekly class timetable. We will broadly follow ‘Racing to English’ pack, which is used
with the morning group. As part of this session, each child will be given to practice 5 high frequency
words to learn each week, practising the pronunciation with them during the session
and encouraging the children to put them into sentences to share at the following session.
Resources
Stored internally and will be selected based on the needs / lesson at the time.
Use the Accelerated Reader story telling function.
Additional online programmes offered
Identified children to continue using Rosetta Stone
Packs to be sent home in addition
