PLUS BLOCK (Practice-Learn-Understand-Study) PLUS block is intended to be a time for students to interact with advisors and peers for social/emotional support, directed learning time, and attend school wide or grade-level assemblies. Students are expected to remain in their PLUS Block for the entire period unless called out of class by either their counselor or dean. PLUS Block will meet on PLUS days (most Monday/Wednesday/Friday) between 2nd and 3rd period.

PRIDE BLOCK Purpose Statement

In order to promote an environment that fully addresses and supports the overall well-being of the Chelmsford High School community, PRIDE Block will provide a systematic opportunity for students to access interventions and supports such as:

● Focused Extra Help/Skill Development ● Social Emotional Support ● Homework, Classwork and Make-up Work Completion ● Group Projects ● Peer Tutoring ● Enrichment Opportunities

PRIDE Block may diminish the need for after school help, however, it will not eliminate the need for focused help with a teacher. PLUS and PRIDE Block Structure The CHS schedule includes:

● Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:19 - 9:44 a.m.: a 25-minute PLUS Block ● Tuesday and Thursday 11:55 - 12:51 p.m.: a 56-minute PRIDE Block

Dismissal notes should be brought to the House Office as soon as possible prior to dismissal. Attendance notes should be brought to the House Office.

EARLY RELEASE DAYS: No PLUS or PRIDE blocks

Regular rotation for first five classes of the day. Dismissal on Early Release Days will be at 10:25 a.m. The dates are as follows:

The following policies apply to students celebrating the holidays noted above:

Homework and projects will not be assigned to students observing religious holidays. Teachers shall not schedule tests for those students celebrating observed religious holidays. Students will not be expected to complete daily homework assigned the evening before, or the day of the religious holiday. Assignments and tests should be made up in a time span that is reasonable to both students and teachers (SC Policy JHCBA).

Observance of a religious holiday shall be viewed as valid justification for student absence, late homework/project submission and delayed testing. It is the responsibility of the student’s parent/guardian to notify the principal/dean/teacher of these dates at the beginning of the school year. In addition the student shall notify the teacher(s) of the observance date no later than two weeks in advance or as soon as practical (SC Policy JHCBA).
