IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THE RACE 02

1. With a good 28,000 runners, we’re expecting high traffic in areas surrounding

the Race Village just before the various flag off timings. Please arrive at least an

hour before your flag off. This will give you plenty of time to gear and warm up

without feeling flustered!

2. Make sure you enter the Start Pen on time! Once the Start Pen for your race

category has closed, you will not be allowed to participate in the run and will

automatically be disqualified from the race.

3. Remember to put on your race bib which has your timing tag* attached at the

back. Do not bend or damage the tag as that will leave you without an official

timing. You will also need to produce your race bib to enter the Start Pen. (*There

is no timing tag for the 5KM Earth Hour Run as it is a non-competitive category.)

4. There is no race that’s more important than your health. Should you feel

unwell at any juncture, please stop racing and seek medical assistance

immediately.

5. Keep to your left to allow faster competitors to overtake. If you encounter

runners moving at a slower pace on the right side of the lane, please call out,

“On your right.” As a courtesy measure, do move to the left when you hear this!

6. We understand that you’ll be excited about your race results once you cross

the finish line. Not to worry! You can get your timings at our official Sundown

Marathon website (www.sundownmarathon.com/singapore) 48 hours after

the race.

Avoid the stress of last minute queues. Collect your race pack in advance so that

you can enjoy yourself on race day. There are 2 options.

OPTION 1 (PREFERRED): DURING SUNDOWN NIGHT FESTIVAL

THINGS TO BRING

It is mandatory for all runners to collect their Race Entry Packs on the dates stated

above. Runners will need to bring along the following documents.

• A copy of the Race Confirmation slip (both soft and hard copies are accepted)

• NRIC or Photo ID for verification purposes

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse participants without the required

documents from collecting their entry packs.

AUTHORISED COLLECTION OF RACE ENTRY PACK

If you are appointing someone else to collect the race pack on your behalf, please

download and fill up the Letter of Authorisation and pass it to the authorised

person who is collecting it on your behalf.

OPTION 2: VIA VENDING MACHINES BY FOTOGRAFT - BETA

(Under trial & with limited stocks)

You may proceed to one of the 4 shopping malls listed below to do your collection

by utilizing the FotoGraft Beta vending machines.

To avoid disappointment, please check https://beta.fotograft.com/ for statuses of

machines and available sizes before heading down for collection.

The machine will dispense the following items.

• Race bib & 4 safety pins

• Race Singlet

• Timing Chip (Only for competitive categories)

You must present your race bib during the race day at the Information Booth to

collect your goodie bag.

Should you encounter any issues with collection with the machines, you may press

the bell at the top right of the machine to request for assistance.

BY LATE NIGHT SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE(Provided By Osim Sundown Marathon 2017)

This service is specially catered for runners and your supporters departing from

the Race Village to various designated MRT Stations.

The shuttle bus departure timings will be at 0030hrs, 0330hrs and 0500hrs on

26 Mar 2017 (Sunday) for all routes from the Race Village. The bus will strictly

stop at the designated MRT stations only (i.e. there will be no detours.)

There are 2 ways to purchase tickets, subject to availability

1. Pre-purchase Online

(2359hrs). Please produce your Confirmation Slip (both hard copy & soft copy are

accepted) when boarding the bus.

2. Sundown Night Festival

Collection (REPC) Information Counter from 21 – 24 Mar 2017 at SGD$8. Please

produce the Shuttle Bus Service Tickets when boarding the bus.

Subject to availability, you may also purchase the Shuttle Bus Tickets on race day

(25 Mar 2017) at SGD$8 from 11pm onwards at the Shuttle Bus Station. However,

INFORMATION TENT*

There will be one main information tent at the race village to assist you with

event information.

BAGGAGE DEPOSIT AREA*

Baggage deposit will be available from 1800hrs (25 Mar 2017) to 0900hrs

(26 Mar 2017). We encourage all to travel light and not to bring any valuables on

race day as the Race Organizer will not be responsible for the loss of any items.

HYDRATION*

Hydration will be available to all runners at the race village before and after

your race.

LIGHT STICKS

You can collect complimentary light sticks at the Information Tent* before the race.

Limited quantities are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

DISTANCE MARKERS

Distance markers will be placed at every kilometre along the run route so you

know when to push the pace!

CUT-OFF TIMINGS

Complete your run within the following cut-off times:

• 42.195 KM Full Marathon - 8 hours

• 21.1 KM Half Marathon – 4 hours 30 mins

• 10 KM Challenge (Individual & Team of 4) – 2 hours 30 mins

• 5 KM Earth Hour Run – 2 hours 30 mins

RESULTS

Official results will be posted on the official Sundown Marathon Singapore website

(www.sundownmarathon.com/singapore) 48 hours after the race.

DISPUTE OVER WINNER’S RESULTS

In the event of a dispute over race results, an appeal must be lodged at the

Information Tent* within 15 minutes of the category’s prize presentation. A

non-refundable S$50 administration fee will be charged per appeal. The

organizers reserve the final rights to the decision over the dispute of race results.

RACE CERTIFICATES WITH NETT TIMING

All runners in the competitive race categories who have completed and received

a finishing time at OSIM Sundown Marathon 2017 will be entitled to receive

a personalised race e-certificate with their Nett Time about one month after

the official results have been released.

The personalised race e-certificate will be available for download via

www.sundownmarathon.com/singapore

LOST AND FOUND

If you have lost or found an item, please approach the Information Tent*.

At the end of the event, found items will be transported to the Race Organizer’s

office at 82 Geylang Lorong 23, ATRIX, #02-05, Singapore 388409.

If you have lost an item, it is your responsibility to contact the Race Organizer at

[email protected] or +65 6340 4204 with a description and to pay for its return

to you. Items will be discarded one month after the race date.

Half and Full Marathon finishers, you’re in for a treat! The massage area will be

available exclusively to you from 0100hrs to 0900hrs (26 Mar 2017).

Visit our exhibitors’ booth to stock up on your running and lifestyle essentials

at great bargains! NETS, Credit Card and Cash payments are mostly accepted,

subjected to exhibitors’ provisions.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

Need to re-fuel after your run? Need to keep the tummies of your supporters

filled? Not to worry! Our food vendors will be at the Race Village to satisfy your

hunger pangs! NETS, Credit Card and Cash payments are mostly accepted,

subjected to vendors’ provisions.

RUNNERS’ ENTITLEMENTS 26

RACE BIB

All runners will receive a race bib in the race entry pack. During the entire race,

the race bib must be worn visibly in the front of your race singlet (chest level or

lower) with the safety pins provided.

MEDAL & FINISHER TEE

Every runner who crosses the finish line within the stipulated cut-off timings of

your race category will receive an OSIM Sundown Marathon 2017 Medal that is

unique to your race category.

Full Marathon finishers who complete the race within the cut-off timing of 8 hours

can collect your Finisher Tee at the Athletes’ Welfare Area.

Both the Medal and Finisher Tee can only be collected at the event. There will be

no mailing of either items after race day so do remember to pick it up and don it

with pride!

RACE TIMING 27

OSIM Sundown Marathon 2017 will be adopting the My Laps Timing Chip to record

your times electronically.

Runners participating in all race categories except the 5KM Earth Hour Run will

have a Timing Chip attached to the back of your race bib.

HOW DO I USE MY TIMING CHIP?

The Timing Chip is a disposable one-time race timing tag which is attached to the

back of your race bib.

WHAT DO I DO WITH THE TIMING CHIP AFTER THE RUN?

You do not need to return the Timing Chip and can dispose it after completing

the race.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TIMING CHIP GETS WET?

The Timing Chip is completely weatherproof and will work regardless of rain, heat,

storms, humidity or other inclement conditions.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE THAT MY TIMING CHIP WORKS?

Each Timing Chip is checked and verified for functionality before it is distributed to

each participant. The Timing Chip is always “on standby” and will not need to be

activated. It will be effective when placed within 1 metre of the timing mats located

at the start, finish & split points on the race course.

WHAT SHOUD I NOT DO WITH THE TIMING CHIP?

Do not bend, perforate or remove the Timing Chip from the race bib.

Any unauthorised alternations and amendments to your race bib and/or the Timing

Chip will result in disqualification.

WHAT IS A TIMING CHIP TIME AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM GUN TIME?

Chip time is recorded by the electronic Timing Chip that is attached to the back of

your race bib. Your Timing Chip records the time at which you cross the 2 layers of

timing mats at the start Line, finish line and at the several split points in between.

Chip time is often shorter than gun time because it begins only when a runner

crosses the start line, while gun time begins once the start gun is fired; many

runners don’t cross the start line until several minutes after their official gun time

has begun.

HOW ACCURATE IS TIMING CHIP TIME?

Chip time is the most accurate form of run timing available because it measures

the exact time between a runner crossing the start line and finish line. Chip time

also records several important splits, providing an accurate record of each

runner’s progress and pace.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY READINESS QUESTIONNAIRE (PAR-Q) 30

The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) is designed to help you

assess your level of readiness for physical activity. It’s a simple test that only

requires a few minutes of your time to complete. If you are planning to become

more physically active than you are now, start by answering the seven questions in

the box below. If your age range falls between 15 to 69 years, the PAR-Q will be an

indication if you should check with your doctor before you start. If you are over 69

years of age and are not used to being very active, please check with your doctor

before proceeding.

Common sense is your best guide when answering these questions.

Please read them carefully and answer each one honestly.

and that you should only do physical activity recommended

by a doctor?

YES NO 2. Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?

YES NO 3. In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were

not doing physical activity?

YES NO 4. Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or do you

ever lose consciousness?

physical activity?

If you answered YES to one or more questions, talk to your doctor before you start

becoming more physically active or before a fitness appraisal. Tell your doctor

about the PAR-Q and the questions you answered “Yes” to.

If you answered NO honestly to all PAR-Q questions, you can be reasonably sure

that you can start becoming more physically active - begin slowly and build up

gradually. This is the safest and easiest way to go
