WASHIGTON HistoryThe city of Washington came under attack during the War of 1812 in an episode known as the Burning of Washington. Upon the government's return to the capital, it had to manage reconstruction of numerous public buildings, including the White House and United States Capitol.GeographyWashington is located in the Northwest of the 48 contiguous states of the United States. It borders the Pacific Ocean to the West, with the Canadian province of British Columbia to the North, and the U.S. states of Idaho and Oregon East to the South.

Policy

The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C.. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.

United States Capitol

The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the U.S. Congress, the legislature of the U.S. federal government. Located in Washington, D.C., it sits atop Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall.

National mall

The National Mall is an open-area national park in downtown Washington, DC, the capital of the United States. It has 3 km long, stretching from the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial. It was inaugurated in the early twentieth century.

ONational Museum of American History

The museum opened in 1964 as the Museum of History and Technology.In1980, the museum was renamed The National Museum of American History to represent its mission of the collection, care, study, and interpretation of objects that reflect the experience of the American people.

The National Museum of Natural History is a museum administered by the Smithsonian Institution, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., United States. The museum's collections total over 126 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts.

The National Gallery of Art and its Sculpture Garden are a national art museum in Washington, D.C., located on the National Mall, Open to the public and free of charge, the museum was privately established in 1937 for the people of the United States of America.

Ford's Theatre

Ford's Theatre is a historic theatre in Washington, D.C., used for various stage performances beginning in the 1860s. It is also the site of the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865.
